Maserati produces the most macho looking cars. I admit, if I didn't care so much about handling, I'd put up with the objective pitfalls to own a Maserati.

i rented a gran turismo mc once. the sound and v8 are the highlight, everything else about the car was pretty bad.

because people want to say they drive a 'maserati'.

porsche figured it out first with the macan and cayenne. people can tell their friends they have a 'porsche' without the sports car drawbacks and sacrifices.

My co-workers (not car people really) all think my wife's 6-year-old-when-i-brought-it X5 is nice even though I paid the same as a brand new, better equipped base model CRV.

No, I get that, but Humdizzle brought up the Cayenne and Macan which are SUV/CUVs. People first and foremost want a SUV or CUV, so producing more GTs or sedans isn't that helpful. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Levante on the road. It just feels like a brand teetering on the edge of irrelevance.
