Do you belong to a country club?

If so, how much was your initiation fee and how much is your annual fee?

Also are you a golf member, tennis member of social only?

Around here, they are just starting to have driving country clubs, where they have a track and you can drive (like Lime Rock, I think they started this). Like country club for people who think golf and tennis are a total waste of time (not that there's anything wrong with wasting your time on golf or tennis...). Only did a brief intro trial - our local one is a little too small, more like glorified autocross, and I can't stand the hoity-toity aspects of 'exclusive membership'.

After you add up the initiation fee, monthly dues, and monthly minimum to spend there for one year, you can probably take one weekend a month at a five star resort and walk away cheaper.

I take the Groucho Marx approach to country clubs.

There's a relatively cheap one that I play at often. Believe it's $1700/yr. When I look at how much I play and the convenience of playing early (thus not pissing the wife off) it is definitely worth it. Some are just crazy though. I know one that is $80k initial buy-in.
