N52B25AF Tuning Project

Hey Guys!
I don’t know if this belongs here but i think so, since it’s a general topic xD

I own a E90 2005 325i N52B25AF and of course I want to make some power on it
I know, I know… “Just buy a 335i…” and i may say no… I bought this car to be worked on and so be it! I know that further along it will get expensive (even more so since I’m in germany and TüV will be extremely pricy) but if I wont start with building Cars i will always just shake it off and buy some car with good enough power until it’s not enough anymore :/
So i know it won’t be easy neither will it be cheap on that engine since it’s fairly “weak” but i am not looking for extremely high power…

I of course did some research and found some interesting things:
Apparently the Stock engine can handle roughly 500HP (i found a thread where someone said he was driving on a 550HP Stock Engine internals with a turbo) but after some time it did eventually blow up.
Some brands are also offering Centrifugal Superchargers with up to 300ish HP but i am no fan of those so thats off the chart.

So here’s where it starts to get interesting:
I think it might be possible to get close to the near 600HP maybe even more.
In theory: If i were to reduce cylinder compression with other pistons, install stronger connecting rods, a stronger crankshaft, change the transmission and diff to a 335i one (maybe even the driveshaft), get some better injectors and fuel pump, some better ignition coils and spark plugs, a custom made exhaust header and probably a downpipe, an intake manifold (either 3 Stage N53 or something better, I’m a bit unsure here… heard some take the n54???), probably upgrade the head studs and a good tune with a proper turbo… i think it would be safe to put around 20-25psi of boost on that and if everything goes well i might be able to push it to the 600hp

What are your thoughts on this?
Pls don’t go on and type “just get a better platform”… I know this will get expensive but so do other builds… I just think the N52 2.5L has some hidden potential and it starts like already at the sound… i think it has such a good sound for example… so why let it go to waste?

I’m not that experienced with building cars for huge hp jumps so go easy if i like forgot something that must be changed with something stronger

Interested in seeing how this goes
