Road rash

Chaps,
Collecting a new M4 this weekend, and wanted to ask if any owners have suffered much road rash, to front wings, sidesills, and rear arches on the M4 ?. Ive purposely inspected quite a few M3/4s, with a few miles on them, and to be fair, they are not faring to badly. Have folks fitted much PPF in these areas yet ?. Will be fitting front stone guards asap after collection, TIA .

I was worried about this before I got my car, but so far it's been fine. I live just outside of Boston with some hilly terrain (steep driveways). The G8x rides high for what it is and I think that helps a bit.

I have an M3 with about 2500km in it. Full PPF and I already have lots of impact marks in the PPF on the rear fender behind the door. Lots of gravel on the roads in winter though.

With the soft/sticky tires that they are equipped with they will throw rocks and gravel onto the quarter panels. I have ppf and mud/splash guards on mine. If you plan on using wheel spacers I would recommend installing splash guards.

Mines got PPF and approx 3000 miles and can’t say it’s excessive. However the side skirts are asking for it.

PPF on the front is a must. I had my M4 C only about 1500 miles or so, and it took a rock to the nose near the light. PPF did its job. The installer simply cut around it and replaced that damaged piece with a small round PPF patch about the size of a large pea. No paint damage.

Definitely get splash guards. Even with them, I got a few chips in the PPF. I had the PPF from factory removed and extended all the way in door and further up wheel arch.
