truck suggestions
Hey guys, I was looking into getting a truck for the purpose of
1) reducing miles on my ///m when I'm just taking a short hop to the store. 2) Taking my dogs out every now and then. 3) haul my motorcycle (when I get it) not behind the truck, on the truck. 4) When I buy over sized items. In other words I'm not looking for the latest tech and all this bling and add ons. Just a simple, cheap and fairly reliable truck that won't crap out on me the next day. I was looking at a 2000 F-150 (because I don't know much about trucks and that's the only truck I know off). Also, would a truck like that be able to tow my ///m or is it too underpowered or underweight? Thanks guys. |

Speaking from experience do not get a Ford Ranger for reliability. I had major issues with the driveshaft, wheels / braking system, throttlebody and the tailgate handle broke off - all when it was fairly new. It was a 99 XLT with extended cab. (Four doors) 4X4. I did the obligitory mods. 32" BF goodrich, Borla exhaust, tonneau cover, K&N air filter, upgraded headlights, etc.
Offroad, that thing was a beast though. Never got stuck. To its credit, I towed a full size land rover country edition that got stuck - out of some sand dunes - no problem Sounds like you are looking for something more full size - to accomodate bikes, etc. I like the way Tundras look. Maybe like their cars, their trucks are more reliable than Fords??? Good luck, keep us posted.

I would only get a Dodge if you get a diesel. Othewise, I think they're crap.
I'm partial to Chevy. My '99 Silvy was great. Only problem was a clogged fuel filter/pressure regulator. And Chevy's are cheaper to fix than Ford, and easier to work on. I also like the Tacoma's. |
