Zodiac

Utter nonsense

or

Something to it?

Do you think birthdates have anything to do with a persons temperament or personality type or anything else along those line?

I never thought much about signs until I was working in Miami and in a room full of strangers gravitated toward 2 people for a work conference. They had birthdays on either side of mine by 1 day. One of them had a book on my sign at his house and I was amazed by its accuracy.

Anyway, 2 yrs ago I was sick on my 40th birthday and doing a fair amount of reflection, stumbled upon this blog and decided to lookup each of my family members signs. I found the descriptions of the dark sides of their signs to be very accurate as well.

What say you?

My families signs:

I’m a spiritual person and believe there are things that we can’t explain with science. So I do somewhat believe in horoscope/astrology/zodiac. We are all energy and are connected in some ways.

I'm the absolute opposite. We're a freak of nature, we live then we die. There's no soul or god or anything, it's just a bunch of stuff.

"Scorpio can be thin or obese"... yeah if they are going to write stuff like that which covers all the bases for sure you'll find it accurate...

That`s very interesting..... I`m a twin, and when my twin brother that was sick a few years ago and almost died, I didn`t even know that he was dying (he need several blood transfusions) I was so stressed and I didn`t even knew it. One day I just started spitting blood that I ended up in the ER. I had a panic attack so I thought that I was having a heart attack.

That did happen a few years later , but it had nothing to do with that.

So many posts from those who didn't bother to read any of the links Since ^you mentioned "scorpio" I'll copy and paste for those too lazy to check out the links. My dad is a Scorpio, this is pretty damn accurate imo... but entertaining at a minimum.

Dark Side of Scorpio: Vengeful, Fixated, Self-Destructive, Insecure

Scorpio Negative Traits
When They're Bad, They're Horrid
If you get long poison-pen messages saying the friendship or relationship is over, or darkly hinting that a mole on her neck has probably become a deadly melanoma, it's likely from your Scorpio friend. Because Scorpio can be droll or entertaining, you forgive his or her moodiness and drama. In return, you will receive an invitation to a fabulous dinner or New Year's bash (Scorpios throw great house parties, but don't really want you at their house otherwise, so don't drop in). For a while all seems okay, until you get fresh complaints that you have insulted or hurt them, or been ungrateful—as if you were an enemy. You begin to think you should be.

A negative Scorpio is a "malcontent": a person who constantly feels attacked and misunderstood. Ironic and sarcastic, saying the opposite of what they mean, they are of course misunderstood. They have creative superpowers (like Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, born November 8, or painter Georgia O'Keeffe, born Nov. 15), but if unused, their creativity backs up and sours. They can begin to obsess or fantasize and joke about committing crimes or suicide.

Their Tasteless Greatness
Scorpio's ability to focus or obsess — especially on career matters — can be productive, and an eye for opportunity can make them rich (Bill Gates, Oct. 28; Sean Combs, Nov. 4; Ted Turner, Nov. 19). Positive Scorpio can be classy but a touch intimidating, like former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (Nov. 14): People hated her just for being tough and humorless. Effective Scorpio president Theodore Roosevelt (Oct. 25) spoke softly, but advised carrying a big stick.

Negative Scorpio stews for years over a slight or becomes an embittered crank believing he or she has achieved greatness the world is too stupid to recognize. And negative Scorpio, like Aries, thinks anger is a strength when it is a weakness. Resentment and frustration often manifest in Scorpios as chronic illness, unnerving thinness, like Calista Flockhart's (Nov. 11), or obesity: Top Latino rapper Big Punishment (Oct. 25) died of a heart attack at 29. Take care: After they beat themselves up, you might be their next target.

Hackers and Bunny-Boilers
Possessive and insecure, negative Scorpios think they aren't living unless their lives are a soap opera. They will disapprove of a son-in-law just to have something to disapprove of. They will stay in a dead-end marriage for "security" and pick people from the neighborhood or online to toy with. Within three days they believe they are in love. Built on vanity, these affairs are fragile, so Scorpio is scared and barrages his or her "baby" with gifts, cards, sexts, South Park merch (that's the most Scorpio show that ever was!), photos of kittens, and flattery; anything to wangle first place in a lover's life. They can't stand to be in second place and hate to lose anything, even an earring.

A positive Scorpio, after making a few sarcastic remarks, will probably quit a no-win situation. A negative Scorpio plots revenge. They can slash your tires or their wrists, spray-paint your house with the words "B...J..$10," distribute your credit card number, sell company secrets, or stalk you. Former U.S. national security adviser John Bolton (Nov. 20), wrote a book betraying his boss and national security secrets. Sylvia Plath (Oct. 27) shredded her husband's books, burned his letters, complained of poverty no matter how much money he gave her, used their children as pawns, wrote a whole nasty novel about his affair (that manuscript is "lost"), and wrote poems calling him a jailer and torturer. If they're the visual type, look for your body posted on YouPorn. Negative Scorpios have no problem destroying your universe — you destroyed theirs! They, and some un-evolved Scorpio Moon people, are the bunny-boilers of the zodiac.

You've Heard Scorpios Are Passionate
Astrology says Scorpios are passionate. "I love you, I hate you" is a sure thing with a Scorpio Sun, almost sure with a Scorpio Moon -- but does "passionate" also mean they all cheat or are easy? On the contrary, they are passionate to the point of idiocy about the love they have — or believe they have. Too much Scorpio togetherness can and does suffocate their mates. Because finding love is difficult for them, they accept unconventional arrangements, like Demi Moore (Nov. 11), who married a man much younger than she; or Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, both Leos with Scorpio Moons.

Single Scorpio can wait, celibate, for the right partner. Unhappily mated Scorpio fixates on his or her unfulfilled "needs" and finds a weakling to cheat with and use as a bargaining chip. Cheat on a Scorpio and she will always figure out whose panties she found in your car. Or while you are showering, he will secretly install spyware on your computer's hard drive. I didn't make that up. Ask Scorpio, "What's wrong?" and you will get that piercing Scorpio look. Take cover. It's going to be extreme.

A "freak of nature" would imply something unusual, abnormal, different. How does that explain life, and the recurrence of it that you see on a daily basis, and throughout history? To have it continually recur does not sit well with your theory.

I think you should be thinking a little deeper about yourself, your purpose, how this world came to be, rather than what you'd like to put on the 'barbie tonight.

I think you're scared of dying and admitting we all lead ultimately insignificant lives. We are just a thing, it's that simple. We don't really matter, none of really do and will be forgotten as soon as our children die.

It is what it is.

Off topic, but to me that's the ultimate in egotistical outlooks.

Zooming way out and viewing our planet perfectly spinning on its axis perfectly distanced from the sun, keeping in mind, if we were any closer or further by a few miles, our existence wouldn't be possible. So there's our planet, on it's axis, containing incredible amounts of details and patterns in a galaxy of otherwise nothingness.

If you also found a rolex watch in the desert among nothing but rocks and sand would you assume it was also there on accident? Or would it occur to you that it was designed? Come on man

If you want proof just go read the things on a bunch of people you know really well (especially if they’re unlike you in some weird ways).
Your sample size isn't large enough.

Do this in a room of 400 people, having them raise their hands when these traits are read aloud, then stating their sign, and you'll see that it's all happenstance.

If there was something to this (however implausible), computers would have found it, and they haven't.

Well, death is unlikely to be a pleasant process for sure, but I'm not sure I'm scared of dying. I mean, if what I believe is true, then I'm going to a much better place right? And if I'm wrong and you are right, then I simply cease to exist.

I think rather it is you who is scared, and thus have placed a fervent belief in the idea that we are just random stuff / thing / freak of nature / some cosmic accident. Because to think otherwise means there are consequences to what you do in this life afterwards, that you might be accountable in some way after you die, that there might be a place of torment. And that is too scary to think about, so the alternative you have chosen is to be an ostrich.

You console yourself with the idea there's some sort of afterlife, i've accepted my fate.

We all know where we came from if we think about it long enough. Somewhere along the line - life did what life often does and you've just forgotten, not mad and not surprised, it happens to lots of us. Peace be with all of you.

I'm just always curious what religious folks think happened to humans for the 150,000 years before the bible was written. Since you have to hear the word of God and repent to make it to heaven. God didn't deem them worthy?

What about the people of North Sentinel Island, also not worthy? It's just laughable.

Yeah, lets see the answer.

I went and read my "personality" for Pisces according to them, couldn't be more incorrect.
