Where to go: Australia, New Zealand, or Argentina & Uruguay?
With 10-11 days, where would you go? If Australia, then we’ll go to Sydney and perhaps Melbourne. If New Zealand, we’ll explore Auckland and nearby cities. Argentina it will be Buenos Aires and Mendoza with possibly 2-3 days in Montevideo which is just across the water.
If you have been to any of these places, please chime in. Need to decide soon! Thanks! |

Is budget a concern? Australia or NZ will be three times the price of Argentina. Also what time of year.
I also wouldn't do Melbourne, other than slightly better night life and people dressing nicer, Melbourne really doesn't offer much that Sydney doesn't. I'd do Sydney and the Whitsundays as a tourist. |

Looking to go in the next week. Budget isn’t really a concern but I’m not looking to spend like crazy either. Traveled quite a bit this year so been spending a ton. Just trying to see which would be great to visit as they all look cool. Leaning a bit more towards either Argentina (just won World Cup which would be fun!) and Auckland.

I think that is what we will do. Leaning heavily towards Argentina and Uruguay now. Thank you for the input!

You're at SFO so direct flights to AUS but i'd still recommend a full 2 weeks minimum. If you ever go, I am happy to walk you through a suggested itinerary.

For now, 5-6 days in Buenos Aires and 4-5 days in Colonia and Montevideo sounds attractive. If anything, I can stay an extra few days and hop over to Colombia or Panama before flying home. That’s easier to do in South America and the 2-3 hours difference with West Coast vs 14-16 hours in Oceania. |

Be sure to check the entry requirements for each country. Visas, vaccines, covid tests, etc.
Buenos Aires is really nice, but also really big. It is a large South American city with a European feel to it. The food is fantastic and your American dollars will go a long way there. |

Do you guys know if buses from Colonia to Montevideo are the nice tourist buses, or if they are the local buses?
Per the suggestions above, we’ll ferry from BA to Colonia, spend a night there, and then bus to Montevideo for a few days before heading back to BA. |

Merry Christmas everyone!!
Made it Buenos Aires. Some delays and flight cancellations due to winter storms. Ended up going from Dallas to Miami to here. Crazy cheap here. |
