Hi
As there isn’t a dedicated F45 forum on here I’d thought I’d post this to the general audience as opposed to the X1 F48 forum. My wife has a F45 LCI 2 series active tourer 220i in sunset orange which I believe is very technically similar to the likes of the F48 as well as others. The stock halogens have always been fine, certainly miles better than the VW Golf we had before a few years ago , but we’ve moved to the countryside and it’s sometimes a struggle for her to see as the roads are very dark with fast moving traffic. I’ve looked into maybe upgrading the headlight units but looks expensive. I’ve found a few Xenon H7 bulbs online but look like the OBD may need recoding etc. I’ve no idea how to do any of this. My questions are, is it worth the halfway house of buying the H7 xenon’s with a potential recode? If anyone has actually done it does it improve the visual details/ distance at night? Looking at the mini options rather than trading in for a higher spec model which is also an option currently including some of the smaller relatable X1/2 models. She’s very envious of my F36 MSport LEDs. Many thanks in advance. |

Have you tried these H7 bulbs? I would start there and see if you get enough visibility improvement.

I could be wrong, but I believe Xenon in EU needs to be on a stabilized mounting.
Nevertheless even Xenón has been superceeded by leds. I know there are certified H7 Leds, which would be plug and play, or minor modificstion, to mount. Major Led bulb manufacturers (Osram, phillips, ...)have car model listings in their webpages..
