bimmerlink vs bimmercode

I bought a veepeak ble and now want to clear the EDC error on start up after having installed coils. Before I buy full versions of Bimmerlink ($39) or Bimmercode ($59)... which one will do this? If both, why pay the extra for bimmercode?

What is the difference or advantage of one over the other?

One reads/clear errors codes, one modifies vehicle coding.

You'll need both to make changes such as remove EDC and also be able to read and clear error codes.

okay, I bought the full version of bimmerlink and did clear the code for the shocks. turned off the car, started it again and no error. Seems fine. Why did you say I'd still need bimmercode?

Once you start driving again, it will return. You need Bimmercode to, essentially, tell the car to ignore the EDC function.

okay, so now I paid another $50 to get the full version of bimmercode and when I connect half the menus that show in "demo" (but don't code) are not showing up in the paid version. Also, I was able to go to setting on bimmerlink and change km to miles, but the only thing available on bimmercode settings it turning on or off separate head unit.

The demo mode displays generic menus, not necessarily ones specific to your car that will show up when you connect.

But every tutorial online says the way to fix the EDC is through the menus that are missing.

There is no way to even search for these, so I went to expert and looked through all the folders and couldn't find either.

In the end, I'm just trying to permanently remove the shock error code ever time I fire up the car. like I said bimmerlink will delete it, but as soon as I put it in drive it comes right back.

Why on earth would you disable EDC?

Replace the adaptive shocks with normal ones and now have a permanent error code (shock) on the dash. I cleared it with bimmerlink but as soon as I drive 5 feet the error returns.

Was told I needed to code it out with bimmercode but when I paid for that half the screens (and all the ones needed) are not there. So that was a waste of $90 (which they refuse to refund because I "used" it).

The search will come up in Bimmercode if you scroll to the top of the list and keep scrolling, the search bar will appear.

You seem to be new to coding and I certainly wouldn't recommend diving into Expert mode as your maiden voyage. You may consider messaging kubax86 or clink the link below and he can code it out.
