New M4 Comp - FROZEN PORTIMAO BLUE

Hi everyone,

Finally got my first BMW M vehicle. I couldn't, not get the Frozen Portimao Blue. I love it, and in less than 12 hours I have gotten many compliments. I want to keep it looking good, but I'd also like to avoid unnecessary expense. It is virtually always in a garage either at home or at my office. However, I live in Palm Beach County South Florida. For people with more knowledge of maintenance, the South Florida climate and environment for preservation, what feedback can you share to help me do this?

Thank you,

Your Frozen PB color is amazing!!!

BMW paint finishes are notorious for being soft and they don't sell touch-up paint for their frozen colors. In addition, if you buy a 3rd party's touchup paint the odds are it will not match your frozen PB color and you will definitely pickup some rock chips as the roads in Florida suck.

You should really consider investing in a PPF like Xpel's Stealth, Ceramic Pro's Matte or Stek's DYNOmatte and possibly putting ceramic coating on top of the PPF.

Also replace that 76er's license plate frame with an black M frame or a simple black frame.

Finally I would consider removing the xDrive badge on the trunk.

For ultimate protection, you'll want to go with ppf + ceramic coating. Probably $7-$10K for that combo. Tons of posts on this forum and youtube about ppf vs ceramic, tons of opinions. It really comes down to how much money you want to spend

On some frozen colors all you have to do is put PPF on the front which is far less expensive. IIRC, Xpel's Stealth does closely match a color like Frozen Grey and people have only done the front of the car.

However I am not sure about how the different stealth/ matte brands of PPF will match Frozen PB. A reputable shop should be happy to put a small test piece of the product they use on the car so that Bobbyj007 could see how closely it matches.

My G80 is awaiting production in this color & interior. I’m definitely doing full PPF and ceramic. Simply for my peace of mind and ease of care.

Congrats on yours!!

Your M4 is on point!
Best way to protect the paint is keep it clean.
Blow it dry, no chance of scratching
