If you are going to keep it for more than a few years you should consider a PPF with UV protection or even an additional clearcoat. The ceramic coating won't do very much to protect it from fading. Not sure if they changed the treatment process for the G8X, but on the E9X and F8X the BMW factory gel coating starts to fail around 10 years in depending on how you park and maintain.

Really interested in this. I plan to get my Car PPF (Track Pack), mainly to reduce the stone chips but was not planning to do the roof. It will be Ceramic Coated every couple of years which I think it would give it suitable protection.
I have not had a Carbon Fiber roof before so would like to hear of others who have NOT had it done in the past and how it has lasted. |

Previous owner commuted the car. More than 2 dozen rock chips on the roof. Some of them were gashes in the resin. There were about 3 small rock chips at the rear part of the roof. Thankfully i dont think any of them reached the CF. After some repairs all is well. I PPFed(DIYed) the front half of the roof cause its much easier than doing the whole roof and antenna cutout. If it was a new car, i wouldve done the whole roof. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1709293
