Washing in Winter
Question, how do you guys wash/clean in the winter? With all this salt and chemicals on the roads?
Also, have any of you used Bilt Hamber Touchless in the winter time to remove the salt and road grime? |

To cold the past three weeks. This coming weekend will be mid 60s so I’ll take advantage. The interior however, cold or not it’s getting attention.

I like to do a rinseless wash in my unheated garage if the weather is warm enough. I'll go to the coinwash first though to give it a rinse. I also try to rinse it weekly if it's to cold to rinseless wash it.

So when you say rinse, do you just pressure wash it down?

Above freezing. I power wash as usual and use a bucket of hot water for the hand wash, maybe latex gloves. Hands don't get cold, no different than in summer except bucket of hot water.

If you can find a local self serve wash that would be ideal. I'm in socal and I even do that in between washes since I have ceramic and the self serve offers deionized water. Bilt Hamber touchless is supposed to be some great stuff and should be perfect for your situation with the salt/grime. It's hard to keep the car clean in the winter!

So I used Bilt Hamber touchless. It’s good. It’s not perfect because you definately need to do a hand wash to get all the dirt off but for now, it’s ’acceptable’.

it's impossible to keep a car clean by driving it every day, winter or summer....

How do you dry it? I assume you don't wipe right. Always wanted to do touchless washes with soap but never had anything to dry with no contact. |

if the weather is above 45, I go to a touchless car wash every couple of weeks - $12
in between I go to the spray and wash - about $4-5

I’ll tell you what, if your car is ceramic coated, then drying with the EGO makes life so much easy. The water just flies off the paint.

Shit you might have just given me the jutification then. I'm ceramic coating it this year come spring/summer. Got to admit just blowing the water off for my maintenace washes sounds great. Then I can use towels when I want to better cleaning more and top it up.

I have been telling folks just that...it works. I do the foam cannon thing with pressure washer, lucky for me, snow in Northern Virginia is not that much. Although we've had a few inches last few weeks, but melts away and rains frequently to wash the roads.

My car isn't ceramic coated but my EGO 765 still works quite well. Love the thing. In fact I used it today since it was 60 and the car needed a wash. I top my car off with regular Griot's Garage Speed Shine every wash and their ceramic version every three washes so that also keeps the paint pretty slick.
