Thumbs up Next Gen Infiniti QX80 Monolith debuts in Pebble Beach

Looks pretty damn good. It's too large for my needs but I can certainly appreciate it.And it will definitely sell no question!

This is pretty much what the production version will look like based on reports.

While I give Nissan and Infiniti credit for still trying, it is an attractive design and may suit some oddball clients, but the brand is so dead I don’t know who in their right mind would buy this over its rivals in this space, of which there are plenty good uns

If it was badged anything but an Infiniti, I'd give the design a slow clap. Unfortunately the brand is all but dead in my eyes (sad to see coming from an OG G35 Coupe 6MT owner).

I'm the original owner of a 2008 QX56. Dealership always trying to buy it from me. If I need to replace it, I would not buy the latest, full-size Infiniti SUV. There is too much focus on bling for me, not enough focus on utility. Instead, I would probably buy the GM/Chevy Yukon/Tahoe with the I6 diesel.

It looks OK for a monstrous SUV but I would not assume any Infiniti will sell. That brand has absolutely destroyed itself

We owned one too! I'd call it the face only a mother could love as that front end was....ew. But it was a fantastic big SUV for the 163K miles we had it until it was t-boned 7 years ago. We replaced it with an Escalade ESV that we replaced with a X7.

I want to love Infiniti like I used to (G20, G37 owner), but this new design is....just trying too hard in too many places. Much like Nissan, I'm afraid Infiniti is headed in the wrong direction...and fast.

Remember when the OG G sedan and coupe was really seen as a true competitor to the 3 series?? Not any more!

And it still shares 95% parts with the 2004 QX56.

Yup, it's crazy to think in 2003 I bought the G35 Coupe 6MT deliberately over an M3. I loved it (mine below). How far Infiniti has fallen...

How true about that front end. We nicknamed ours the "turd", after the big rolling turd from the movie "RV". And the look has not aged well either!

That doesn't look all new to me, that looks like they took the existing model and refreshed it. It also doesn't look as good as the current Armada, so there's that.

Infiniti def had its heyday in the 00s, and now is the "drug dealer with bad credit" brand. They don't hold value worth a crap because of the image, and because they don't hold value worth a crap they get beat to crap after their original owners.

The one advantage that Armada and QX80 have in the market is that they're old, proven, and robust. If you want a fullsize SUV to buy and just drive, QX80 is the only new offering. Every other model has its own demons to deal with in terms of reliability, but because these have been made for so long without powertrain changes, and the design underneath is built tough for work trucks.

It fails everywhere else. The interior is awkward, the styling bland and.ugly, the cargo space garbage, the third row inconvenient, the fuel economy crap, the resale crap... There's a reason it's worst in class.

I don't see this redesign helping. It's the same mix of ugly and bland they've been since the first gen qx56. It may have been polarizing in terms of style, but it had presence for sure. I always liked them, if you could find a nice one that was clean with low miles it's make a bargain for a tow rig or family hauler now.

It couldn't age well b/c it was ugly from the get go!!!

I did test drive a new one a few years ago before we got the X7. I didn't expect to like it but wanted to see what is like. It's as has been described above- dated and well behind the competition. The bulging rear bumper (among many parts!) on both the QX and Armadas shows how design as evolved. Clearly Nissan has components to the frame that jut out and it looks very awkward in today's marketplace.

Thumbs up

Full production version drops. Looking just like the concept. Very nice!
Smart move ditching the V8 for the tried and true and potent GT-R TT V6.

Great color option too.

Oof. That's ugly. Losing the reliable V8 for what is probably the 3.0L turbo out of the cars is a big loss. Everyone else (except GM) has turbo v6s, and their are better. They should have put a turbo on the 5.6 if anything.

Frankly, it's sad to see how far Infiniti has fallen. Back in the mid 00s they were the hot brand. Now they're bottom of the barrel in the class.

I would argue MB is bottom-er than Infiniti. Lots of rubbish coming out of MB factories these days.

Maybe, but Infiniti is almost exclusively selling to low credit score types that somehow almost have enough monthly for the payment, and drug dealers. They also don't make a single vehicle that's desirable. MB at least makes a few vehicles I'd consider.

QX70 is their best product and it's just a Pathfinder. Outside of that I think their only.other products now are the QX80 which is worst in class, now without any redeeming attributes, and I guess they make the G35 successor that's ugly, kinda slow, and totally lacking compared to any of its rivals. The only thing you could say it has going for it is a bit more power than the Genesis cars.

The QX80 even with it’s dated design is a solid seller (for the brand). Wife fell in love with it and so it became our family car despite my hesitation. She preferred the interior and design over the Armada.
Thanks to heavy depreciation (40%) we purchased a lightly used mint 2022 Sensory. For a large SUV I appreciate the solid feel and tried and true engine. The dated electronics are not a big deal as wife doesn’t care for overly complicated interfaces.

See LOTS of women driving QX80/Armadas so the size and “safety” feeling hits a cord with females.

The new QX80 looks nice, curious to see how much MPG improves, it’s still going to be a heavy SUV and doubt it gets more then 16/22 imo.

Getting closer to full reveal and video. In the meantime, here's the interior. And it appears to give the mighty Escalade and any full sized luxury SUV competition...

That actually doesn't look half bad. I really like that they bothered to integrate the screen into the dash bulkhead versus duct-taping it on ala BMW.

I wonder how it will wear though. I still remember all of nissan's plastics delaminating their top layer.
