Question 2005 BMW E60 520i reliability

I'm looking for a car that's gonna hold up for the next 2-3 years and I've always wanted to have an E60. I don't want to to go above 170HP because if I don't my insurance gives me a great deal of half the price. I've heard the 6cyl hold up really well so the only car in question would be the 520i, but there are so many with 200.000-250.000km on sale and I don't know whether to go for it because it just seems a little much for a gas engine.

M54s seems pretty reliable if taken care of, and the internetz says it should go high mileage without problems. "M54s routinely hit 300k mi (480,000 km)"
