Sorry, the F90 LCI Competition (or CS) are the pinnacle of modern M5 design.

I like that BMW doesn't just evolve the design of their cars, they give their design team a lot of room to push the design forward. No, they're not always home runs, I don't like all of them (or even many of them). But I'm glad a new BMW design (especially M models) truly pushes the envelope....so much so that they're often love/hate (no middle ground). I'm not the market for an M5 (I only buy two-door fun cars), but I like the way it looks. Chunky and aggressive. If the new M5 doesn't sell, it will be because the drivetrain is an obvious stop-gap as BMW approaches full EVs...but as a lease (which is the case for a lot of BMW aficionados), this car will suit its purpose of being a comfortable, quiet, executive missile. If someone wants an agile, backroad barnburner, there will be other options. |

F90 is a flawless exterior. Interior is a bit dated.
The G90 interior screen could have been integrated much better (like 7 series), now it's just big tablet floating around. The rear lights is also weird (touring has so much better rear lights). |

The current gen m8 in all their variants are BMW’s best looking cars honestly. The are gorgeous and time less imo. Classy and aggressive.

The M8 is the last BMW M car. M Division no longer exists once the M8 is retired.

When the Pre-LCI F90 M5 came out I hated it, still do. It looked too much like a lowered X5M. But when the LCI F90 M5 was unveiled, they made made such big improvements, it really became an all new M5, and I liked it. I feel like the G90 design overall both inside and out are a step forward in design over the F90 as a Pre-LCI design, despite the fact that the chassis has grown so big, and even more worryingly, so tall. When I first heard the G60 was going to be over 1” taller than the G30, I immediately didn’t like that. And the lack of any kind of fender flares on the G60 really bothered me at first. The tall aspect of the chassis reminded me so much of the 2-Series Gran Coupe which I hated, and still do. However, I really gotta hand it over to the design team at BMW as the G60 has grown on me over time and now that the G90 M5 is out, I think it’s a handsome car. I feel the G90 M5 has a sexier more elegant and refined design since the F10 M5 came out. I really appreciate what they did with the G90. Yes the front fascia and rear diffuser are a bit aggressive, but it’s ok because the rest of the car has beautiful understated lines. Even the hoffmeister kink looks better over time. The things I am disappointed with in the G90 M5 are the things they left out, like the Fender Grilles and an actual bespoke Sideview Mirror design betting an M5 (not just carried over from the i5 M60), etc… The G90 is interesting because I feel it blends some elements of the E39, E60, and F10 M5’s all in one design. I do feel the headlights could have been slightly bigger, but the tail lights seem perfect. I love the wheel designs of the G90 and the while the interior design of the G60/G90 is a step forward from the G30/F90 it’s also heavily lacking in a lot of aesthetic design and luxury appointments that the G30/F90 had. So overall, the G90 is a good looking car that achieves the Gentleman Racer / Businessman’s Bruiser / Executive Missile / Understated Sports Sedan that a BMW M5 should be, especially if dressed in Black. I think once we start seeing them in the streets and in the wild, people will like them more and more. The F90 is looking dated in my opinion, while the F10 M5 is seemingly getting better while age, and the G90 will evoke a lot of emotion for the next many years.

I don’t think the G90 looks bad but I am not excited by it either and think the F90 looks a good bit better. I’ll give it time to grow on me. The G80 grew on me and I like them now. On the flip side (and no offense to anyone catching random strays by my forthcoming comments) since first seeing it through present I still think the current and previous generation 7 series cars look completely unappealing and I think the iX is one of the ugliest cars on the road — and not just in BMWs lineup. Let’s see how this pans out — especially in person.

Many say they will hold onto their F90’s, apparently because they are good on track (!) and look flawless, time will tell but i don't see it becoming a classic. |

What good is, that G90 and G80 looks too different now compared to base models (wider fenders). So you won't see on the road regular diesels pretending to be a M5. What was with older generations. As becoming a classic, well.. Maybe. |

For me, as soon as a new model is released the previous looks dated. It’s a viscious cycle that cost me lots of $.

I can't get over the G90 grill, it is too large and half covered anyways? The F90 LCI had really good proportions in the front and back, really nice curves throughout and is a high-point for BMW design. I don't know what happened to the G-series.. I think the M2 is the best looking of the bunch but geez!! The CS versions of the M3 and M4 had good looks but the grill just was not beautiful. The G90 M5 has an almost 750 appearance from the front. I'm not really appreciating the rear fenders either, the proportions are something out of a kid-racer a la M3, not out of an executive sedan such as an M5.
Oh well.. |

Not a fan of the rear quarter panel. Maybe it’s angle of the picture..? Otherwise, the car isn’t terrible looking. The G90 looks full or bulky in somewhat of an unnecessary manner, like a roblocs avatar. Dare I say it looks as heavy as it is. I do like the interior design though.
The Carwow video did a good job of showing it, helped to see it in scale. However, I had to turn the video off because he kept fisting the car for some reason… |
