You guys get extended leather?!

Those prices are without taxes right? What would the total be including taxes and fees in your state?

Any estimate on delivery times for the US market?

So the price increase is effectively a lot more than $9k because of how many features are removed.

Similarly specced to a AMG GT 63 S E-Performance its USD 30k less (S 63 E-Performance its 60k less).

Its USD 20k less than a similarly specced Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Its reasonably priced, I was expecting way worse.

Although the expected price hike here is pretty crazy, but we don't get a M5 since 2022.

Yeah, but Mercedes are better cars and cost more. They don't really compare directly. I owned an S63 AMG and BMW has nothing remotely comparable, nor does Audi.

I have a 2023 S8 currently, and it's about 10 years behind the 2023 Merc S580 in terms of features and tech. The S63 is just a whole different level above that.

Lol, what is it 2022 and we're back to S63 vs M5 comp? IMO, Mercedes cars including the S63 are for 50+ year old husbands to impress their 50+ year old wives at the golf course. BMWs like the M5 were about sportiness and luxury combined, the ultimate GT cars for the price.

Nowadays, seems like both added 1000+lb of weight and have lost the script completely.

I would not necessarily say a Mercedes is a better car than a comparable BMW. Maybe once upon a time yes, but Mercedes has cheapen their cars in the last decade. I considered the E63S and the M5 when I was in the market. I could have purchased E63 or even S63 if I wanted, but the M5 was better for me. There were a few members here who traded in their E63S for an M5. Also, why compare the M5 to an S class?

Because in the post immediately preceding mine, the S63 was used as a comparison but being $60k more expensive.

Interesting how it is 10 years behind? And recent Mercs felt very cheap somehow (well not S class obviously)

Keep in mind this is just the Order Bank being open. It does not mean you’re getting an allocation slot right now, they do not have a correlation. BMW still has to decide how many allocations they’re going to give each dealer. And that likely won’t be known for another couple weeks to a month

An AMG GT 63S is not an S Class.

It’s not. The only thing the S-Class has going for it right now is the fact that it wears the S-Class badge. I know Mercedes fans don’t like to hear it, but the S-Class is no longer the benchmark it once was. Is it still better than the 7er and A8 in some areas? Sure, but it’s also worse in other areas than the other two.

The S-Class is still a great car but all Mercedes has to do is make the interior shiny and have ambient lighting to give the allusion that it’s this high quality car when Mercedes quality has fallen.

The trouble is that our lovely engineers at BMW M added so much weight to the new M5, that brought it closer to the S63 AMG than to the previous M5.

I had compared previously to the AMG GT, S 63 and Panamera just for pricing (the other comparable PHEV + V8 cars in the market)

Yeah but compared to the other V8 + PHEV cars, the M5 is priced exactly where it should have been. I think its reasonable. Given that there will probably be lease incentives due to the PHEV, I belive this will be a good lease deal in the end.

No they aren’t. Neither the GT and S class are competitors to the M5 (and the Panamera isn’t really, either). Those are all M8 competitors and why they are priced accordingly.

When it comes to the M5, it’s basically the E63…

BTW, Mercedes reliability is trash.
