Appreciate count display error

I've noticed that for the past few weeks, the appreciate count on posts is sometimes acting weird:

It seems like it has something to do with the logic that stops listing individuals and just falls back to the total count when the number of appreciates gets too high. (The error puts a high/correct total, but then lists a few users afterward.)

Did something change recently?

Have noticed this as well. Thought it was some kind of glitch.

I’m trying to better understand this, you are saying the number of appreciates does not match the number of names shown?

Exactly. He meant this post: https://f20.1addicts.com/forums/show...postcount=6441.

And this: https://f20.1addicts.com/forums/show...7&postcount=44. By the way, I suppose the stealth appreciator here is Sammy U'Rai and the system just failed to find out his true name .

Yes. I mostly see it happen when a post reaches the point where the appreciates are so many that it stops listing users (about 12?), and then tacks on some extra users by name who may have appreciated it after the transition to just total count.

As No one pointed out, it is happening for lesser post counts as well.

I also noticed that when I used those direct links to an individual post, the system seems to be having a CSS nervous breakdown in the footer, listing appreciate users with their scores (but a wrong total) and not buttonizing the edit or quote buttons:

https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s...postcount=6441

Screen shot of footer:

FWIW, I just checked the above link in my virgin test browser (MacOS Safari) and it had the same display problem, so it isn't a CSS/cache problem.....

Ok thanks everyone for this report and details that helped me quickly find the problem and fix it!

I believe it should be all fixed now and the numbers and names will slowly start to realign as people appreciate posts. There are alot of post out of alignment but they will come back into alignment. If you see one that’s messed up you can try to do an appreciate (or remove appreciation) to see it come back into sync. This will have to be done via the app for now and I will roll out the fix to the website within the day hopefully.

I did indeed rewrite the appreciate system a few weeks ago and when I went back to look at it I was clearly drunk Thanks again all!

How about the apparent broken CSS in the footer of each post when you view it as a single post (using the link in my example above as an example)? It still seems to be wonky when displayed, although the count is correct now.....

Ya that’s a different issue that has been there for some time. I have some longer term bigger underlying changes planned which will address that so I’m leaving it alone for the time being.
