I plan on it, doubt I'll get it right away since I will be in my saving period til my 135i arrives. I might just pop it on the credit card, but I'm also planning on getting a new dslr. I have the current iPhone, hacked n all, plus the release of the new iPhone means new software for me. I will probably just hold over for awhile. But who knows, Apple just might get that impluse sparked for me to get it right away hehe.

Hehe yeah, I'm more exact with their products, dates get a little hazy until last minute, in my mind I know its 'soon'. Unless I've been waiting to get one for awhile, then its like 'SOON!!! not fast enough!"

Check this site out-
http://weblogs.redeyechicago.com/iphoneblog/ He is usually up on things iPhone. He inserts his liberalism in at times which is unfortunate in a tech column, but otherwise it's good reading. I wouldn't want him to promote conservatism either, politics have no place in this context imo. He obviously has access to those types of outlets/blogs for those types of opinions. I am hoping to give my wife my current 8 gig iPhone and get the 3g for myself since I will use the enhanced capabilities far more than she will in our respective jobs. |

Only if you really need the extra bandwidth would 3G data transfer be useful. It's the other upgrades to the phone that might be interesting...iPhone is far from flawless.

I plan to pick one up. According to several rumors, the new iPhone is expected to debut at Apple's keynote address with Steve Jobs or on the anniversary date of the iPhone's first release.

Everything known now is a rumor, but it's quite likely the new one will have GPS, 3G, and possibly a front mounted camera. It will also likely be a tad thicker and may sport a rounded back comprised of black glossy plastic.
Those features are all well and good, but the real problem I have is the rumor of a subsidy for the new phone. That means new customers may be paying $200 for a new iPhone and contract. Since I'm under contract already for another year or so I'll have to pay full price. Not only that, but my current iPhone will be worth less because of the influx of new, subsidized phones. I'm not really complaining since it was always possible that they'd do this, but it's still unfortunate. I may just wait for the next version which will probably be out in another year. Too early to call. |

So far I think I'll stick with my jailbroken iPhone. If the next generation one is worth getting, I'll wait till the uber-high "introduction gotta have it or you're not one of the cool kids" price goes down.

While I do think the iPhone is a very cool toy, I don't use my cell phone nearly enough to justify the cost of the phone or the monthly plan required to operate it. I know that, for me, it would be one of those things I buy, play with for a week, and then never really use much after that.
