The decision to favor the GTI over the Scirocco indicates that the GTI is the more profitable of the two. But they have had enough feedback from VW enthusiasts begging them to bring the Scirocco back to the U.S. that Volkswagen has been reconsidering.

So if you'd like to see the Scirocco back in the U.S., let VW know!

so i'm told

I'd get one... way better looking than a GTI.

The competition version you posted looks nice, as competition cars often do.

To me, a former Scirocco owner, the plain-Jane retail version of the car looks a little ... vanilla.

Plus, with FWD you always face that question: At what point will adding horsepower turn my annoying push into unmanageable torque steer?

Wow.. that reminds me a lot of the Alfa 147 GTA, if it were lowered:

Neither is the Audi S3 Sportback with a 265hp AWD turbo I-4 with a 6 speed manual. What a shame.

S3 is a nice car, but they couldn't afford to sell it in this country. Look at the prices of the A3 3.2Q. It's about the same cost as the 135i. The S3 would have to start at $43k+ base. I just don't see a market for it here, even though it's a nice car.
