M Drive Professional option if you don't track your car?
If you are definitively NEVER going to track your car is there a reason to get the M Drive Professional option? The website "options" description says it includes:
I didn't select the option as I'll never track my car. However, seeing some recent videos, seems there are additional M Hybrid modes from which to choose, as well as a "boost" function by pulling the left paddle. Anyone aware of the functionality of these, and if these would be helpful for normal (albeit spirited) driving? |

Yea... at the time I placed the order I deliberately avoided anything that might 'encourage' me to play around with drifting it...
but am curious about this Boost function and now am having massive FOMO.... car just entered production on Friday, but from the looks of it it hasn't actually 'started' mfg... so I've pinged my rep to see if it can be added... though am now doubtful.... |

As others said for a 120k order, only 0.75% worth to have.

I had 2020 M8 for about 42 months following by debating between 2025 M4CX and 2024 M8CC ended up to M8 after driving the M4 I had placed the order arrived LOL. I’m still in love with M8 and I think this is the car I would keep for next 3-4 years untill next 6/8 generation comes😊 TBH I like my M8 interior. It is Beige Leather/Alcantara.

I have similar interior but no BW (i had it on previous conv and it is a must) My wife drives an X5 and when i drive them back ro back i feel i need an upgrade although the idrive 7 is more friendly and easy to use but the 8.5 is not that bad just it needs time to get used to I hope the M5 drives well and better then on paper (i think the EV part fills the small turbo lag on the m8 and that makes the M5 more appealing then the previous gen m5) Waiting for the reviews in 2 days |

I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Boost comes with the M-driver package for US$2500 (along with speed limit increase and a trip to the track), not M Drive Professional ($900).

That's a no-brainer, then.
So the driver's package is ONLY upping the top speed limit and then the driving class? Not sure that's worth it (in the US), particularly if doing a PCD. That'd save me some money I'd rather put elsewhere. F/u question- can that speed limit be adjusted aftermarket? |

Even after watching though, I'm not clear on what exactly BOOST does... Maybe I'm being daft, but no additional HP... so acceleration should be the same regardless of if you use the BOOST mode, right? Is it more about how the power is delivered? e.g., sharper throttle response? |

From what I gathered, it essentially gets the car ready to have the accelerator floored... so it adjusts all the settings to their sportiest, including throttle response. She's also said (I can't remember if it was in this video) that the electric motor may work against the engine, placing a load on it that then shuts off when the boost is released. Who knows.

Also bear in mind resale these are in the grand scheme cheap options that folks on the used car market may look for. Last edited by DocWeatherington; 10-23-2024 at 04:41 PM.. |

No it CANNOT be coded in after it leaves factory by bmw, only option would be to have your ECUs after market reprogrammed and likely void warranty. So if it's something you want get it.. the one day school is fully worth the price of entry Last edited by DocWeatherington; 10-23-2024 at 05:47 PM.. |

Looking at the various reviews, I am starting to wonder if “BOOST” is a bit of a gimmick.
If someone had M2 button programmed to be “FULLHAM” (love it, btw), what’s the difference of just pushing the M2 button? If anything it seems slightly slower to hold down the paddle for a couple seconds then wait another second or so for boost to engage…. What am I missing? |
