2011 Acura NSX- spotted!!!
Honda were hardly likely to leave Nissan and Toyota to steal all the thunder in the supercar market as they look to provide some serious competition with its new NSX. Previously we had only seen prototypes of the new model sporting the body of the S2000, but now for the first time the model has come out showing its new body styling albeit with the annoying black and white camoflage. Unlike the previous mid-engined NSX this prototype is running a front-mid engine, with its powerplant placed well behind the front wheels to ensure excellent weight distribution. This should also allow the new NSX to offer 2+2 cabin accommodation, broadening its appeal against the Nissan GT-R and Lexus LF-A - particularly in the USA. What that engine is remains very much a mystery. There’s talk of a high-revving naturally aspirated V10, which would fit in very comfortably with Honda’s Type R philosophy. Honda’s not as obsessed as many by big horsepower outputs, but even so an output of 450 hp seems likely. Should such an engine be fitted to the sort of lightweight body as the previous NSX, the performance would be exceptional. Four-wheel-drive, with rearward bias, is also rumoured, the handling expected to be controlled by a version of Honda’s electronic Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. The Honda NSX is not expected until 2009 and on top of its Japanese rivals it must also compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430 and the Lamborghini Gallardo. Even with all the camou, this is the best looking car Honda has put out in years! It already looks better than the GTR. It still looks Japanese, which isnt a bad thing. A small part of me believes it isnt the NSX replacement. It could be an s2k replacement from Acura? I read somewhere that Honda was going for mpg and power. I wouldnt be shocked if their supercar gets relatively good economy.

Haha, tell me about it! Chances are the wont call it an NSX. Its really just its successor. Nothing like a reliable V10 spinning to 9,000rpms all day.

Hope they make it cheaper than it was before. With the GT-R and supra being cheap. The (current) NSX is priced along the R8. That car has to be priced about the same as a Z06 vette(100K canadian).

^acura charged 90K USD for a 290hp v6 when you could get a 350hp V8 for 40K. Cars weighed about the same. Sooo, for 450hp, i'm gussing, 110 USD at least. you can get a z06 for under 70K.

Yes the NSX was pricey. But, most of you need to realize that the NSX is one the best handling car ever built. The aerodynamics of the car are second to none. I look forward to what Honda/Acura will be putting on the table. Their engineers have built some of the best engines in world also. Btw the car looks pretty good, but it's only a prototype so things will change none the less!

Honda NSX: the worlds most expensive sports car, crappiest, and slowest sports car.

i'll admit that ive never driven one before but from what i read(i read a bit actually) i must say that aside from handing they just dont deliver. For the amount of money you're paying for a high end sports car i would expect a little more bang for buck. before this upcoming model they havent changed the 3.2 v6 in something like 5 years. which rockets the car to a stunning 13.9 quarter mile...yea...so does my moms e320. all i was merely trying to say was for the amount of money you pay for that type of vehicle you aren't getting nearly what you deserve. i was just too tired to back up my statement. i know a little bit about cars and i apologize if i insulted your car of choice as i see that you once owned an s2000. i know what its like to be a fanboy and im sure if you tried attacking the b5 s4 community i would stand up for them....maybe not...but fact is fact. handles great but is otherwise unimpressive and shockingly average.

At one time, it featured the highest per-liter specific output of any road-going naturally aspirated V6 engine in the world. Some 'rags have stock NSX's gitting as low as 13.3seconds in the quartermile. My mother had an 03 E320 before she moved to the 550. It definitely wasnt a 13.9 second car. Thats when it wasnt in the shop for funky brake recalls. Btw, this thread was about the up and coming NSX-successor. Why flush it down the toilet? You decided to contribute nothing but negativity and say nothing in regards to what the thread is about...whatever man. How did you insult my car of choice?? I dont own a 1990-2005.

I'm on my second NSX and can tell you that the numbers tell Jack Shit about the car and how it drives. There's no denying that the car could use more power but you can't always discount a car based on HP alone. The driving experience is second to none, it's like strapping an engine to your back and riding on the head of an arrow. Anyone who spends time driving the car comes away from the experience admiring the car and its abilities.
