1) no brake dust. This is a huge benefit for me, especially since I am going with the 952 wheels (the ones that look like a kitchen sink drain plug). 2) rotating mass. The CCB's are about 55 lbs lighter. This mass is rotating, unsprung mass. That is the most important kind of weight to get rid of on a car. 3) gold calipers look cool CCBs wont stop any faster in a one-off braking run. CCBs main advantage is they can withstand multiple high speed stops without fading. With normal street driving they will effectively last the majority of the cars life. But if you track a car with CCBs they wear out just as quickly as steels and are EXPENSIVE to replace. I think replacing the pads and rotors on my RS6 would be about $30k, versus $5k for steels. Are they worth it to you is a you question, but they are worth it to me. |

1- No brake dust - ever 2- Stopping power is just as euphoric as the exhaust sound 3- The massive discs are noticed by people who know nothing about cars (which surprised me) 4- Just so damn cool. Splurge. Do it - you won't regret it. Especially for a car that is this price point

$30K to replace! Is this for both rotors and pads? You mentioned that CCB's can last a while, potentially a 100K miles. Is this for both rotors and pads, or pads need to be replaced more often?

The rotors and pads should last at least 100k miles with street driving. After 25k miles my pads still have 10mm of pad left. New pads are only 10-12mm, so after 25k miles there is hardly any wear. |

I have CCB on my Audi R8.
They are zero brake dust.... and I'm not exaggerating, it's ZERO dust. I've had the car for over a year and never once needed to clean the wheels. You could wipe the wheels with white gloves and not get them dirty. They are worth it for that alone. The fact they stop better is icing on the cake. |

I can honestly say I have never met anyone who said they got CCBs mainly for braking performance. I think this thread supports that as well.
Im pretty convinced that at street speeds, there is no difference in braking performance between similar sized steel vs ceramic brakes. On a track, CCBs dont fade like steels, but they do wear like steels. On the streets though, ceramics basically experience no wear and should last 100k+ miles. Even people who get GT3s and track them often swap the CCBs for steels just because of the replacement costs. I have a neighbor who went through a set of ceramics on his AMG GT 4-Door in about 2,500 miles tracking it. The dealership was very impressed. Unless your professional racing team with a big budget, dont regularly track a car with ceramics! |

Yes on track CCBs are nice, especially if it's not your car to pay for new rotors.
For daily driving, for example sudden hard braking on the highway, stopping performance is significantly worse. For those of us living in icy and moosey areas this is an issue. But no brake dust is nice.

Braking for moose is somewhat important.

Per other comments CCB last 100k miles so if you want to buy the car, you should get it but if you want to lease it for 3 years / 30k miles then you are paying about extra $4.5k ( 57% residual + fees) for CCB for 30000 miles.
If the issue is just noise and dust, you can use better brake pad without any need to CCB Ask expert r33_RGSport

As Crazy1323 mentioned, a lot of Porsche owners do change their CCB to steel rotors. More cost efficient for track use.
Besides, CCB doesn't guarantee no squeal. I have had guys with F90 M5 reporting squeaking noise with CCB. Unless, if you purchase a brake coverage, it may be worth it.

Oh, never know that.
Well, in that case, steel it is.

Audi replaced my front CCB pads under warranty because they developed a vibration at around 2200 miles on my R8. They said the pads were glazed, which I don't believe because I'm the only driver of the car and I never did any hard braking or track miles with the car. New pads cured the vibration, however... and so far no recurrence.
The parts guy almost returned the pads when the box came in because it was a Lamborghini box. |

The CCB were great on track but I had some hairy situations with cold brakes at highway+ speeds. They were also squeaky as all hell, never had that on the later cars with standard M brakes.

For the G90 and F90 are CCB rotors bigger than the steels?
I plan to go with CCBs because I am OCD when it comes to cleaning my wheels and the amount of time I spend on them is about as long as washing the rest of the car. Figure i wash my wheels multiple times per week that's a lot of time saved.
