Front axle lift to clear steep ramps and obstacles?

I can't find anything about this on BMW USA site.

Is the G90 M5 equipped with a front end lift system like on various Porsche models to clear steep driveway ramps, garage entrances, etc and prevent damage to the front lip/bumper spoiler? The G90 M5's front lip looks pretty large and low and looks like it really needs such a system for some owners.

Both my current Taycan and 992 have it and they absolutely need it in my case. I once forgot to engage the lift on my Taycan while entering a steep transition at a parking garage ramp and destroyed the front lip to the tune of $2k replacement parts & labor. Luckily I have not made the same mistake with my 992 yet, though even with the 992's front lift engaged, I'm still already scraping the entrance ramp of my own building's garage entrance.

Sadly, not having a front lift system would make the G90 a deal-breaker for me. BMW must have though of this, no?

Nope. No front end lift on any BMW sedans. However, the SUVs (X5 & X7) do have adjustable ride hight (but that is not any help here).

I bumped my M5 CS into a parking block and cracked the front lip. Did the same with my M3 CS lol The first ding is always the hardest.

No front lift system but this car sits higher them my m8 and has better clearance given the high profile front tire (40)
I do not think you need a lift on this car

Good to hear that it has more clearance, but I believe my case is an outlier in that any sporty car will require some kind of lift system to clear my home condo garage ramp. Even my neighbor's AMG GT sedan scrapes going down the ramp. Here's my 992 WITH the front axle lift system engaged going down the same ramp and it still scrapes but just gets by without ripping out the lip. My Taycan was not as lucky when I forgot to engage the lift system.

The G90's lack of a front lift system might be a deal-breaker for me, sadly. I will ask if the nearby dealership would loan me a G90 for a "test drive" so I could try it down my garage ramp, but then if I told them what I was really up to, I wouldn't be surprised if they refuse.

My 760i xDrive sedan has a button to increase the ride height.

Wow, I honestly didn’t know that. We switched from 7 series to X7s around 2020 so I must have missed that.

Thanks!

Yeah, I guess most cars equipped with air suspension will have that ability. Your 760, both our X5 and Taycan have air springs and so their heights are adjustable, meanwhile I'm assuming the G90 has conventional springs like the F90 did so no ability to raise suspension unless a specific front axle lift system is developed for clearance purposes, which in these cost-cutting times is very un-BMW-like

I had an X5M years ago. It had air suspension, but only in the rear. Do the X5’s and X7’s have air suspension at all 4 corners now?

I have air suspension in my RS6 and really like it. There is a company that makes a module that you can plug in. This module allows you to change ride height from you phone. You can also set the ride height to do things like lower 10mm in Sport and 15mm in Sport Plus (Audi calls these RS1 mode and RS2 mode, but same thing).

I’m lowered 15mm from stock, but it is nice to be able to push the button and raise up when I see an extra big bump or driveway entrance. I will miss it on the M5.

I’d love someone like KW to come out with a kit that adds a lift function to traditional coil springs like they have on some of their coil over kits.

.
Depends on the model. X5 45e and 50e have all four corners. It's an excellent ride on 20s or 21s and has come in handy on a few occasions.

Honestly, lowering the car is more fun than raising it. When you put the car in Sport driving mode, it'll hunker down a little lower and the front seats will cinch in on the sides and squeeze you a bit tighter.

Air suspension is pretty handy. I keep my car in the low suspension setting all the time, but the car remembers where I need to have it lift into high based on gps. And this has really saved me in multiple places around town.

The G90 is not an easy car to scrape the front, but it does scrape the middle more often than I was expecting.

The middle seems like a particularly bad place to scrape. I don't think I have ever had that happen to me in a vehicle.

It happens to me in all my sports sedans as Brazil's speed bump are mostly irregular. BMW has that covered. There is a metal plate right in the middle to protect it from scraping anything important.

If someone wants a car that doesn't scrape anywhere, I wouldn't recommend any BMW 5,7 - they are too large, so the middle gets easily exposed.
