Tire lottery bout to be crazy. PS5 tires

I was really shocked when i found out BMW choose hankooks for the M5. Ive used them long time ago when i was on a budget and they where all right for the money. But could never come close to Michelins. Looking on tirerack the only available tires where said hankooks. Seriously scratching my head no way BMW would have these on such a premium car long term. Well ladies and gentlemen i was right and ohh boy is it massive. The mythical Pilot Sport 5s to replace the amazing Pilot Sport 4s have been MIA. But guess what BMW is starting to use them on the M5 look at what i found in a youtube video.
Guess they couldn't make enough of them in time.

This video is from 3 and a half months ago, and who knows how long before it was posted it was actually filmed.

I am not sure I have seen a customer cars delivered with Michelins, only Hankooks and Perellis. I’ll be putting two rear wheels on my front, so I’ll be buying at least two new tires anyways. I might just buy 4 new tires to get the Michelins all around. I’ll put the others in the attic if I lease the car.

the fact is its being tested and validated. Michelin makes unique tweaks for OEM's specs. The PS5s is a unicorn buy seeing it testing on the M5 means it coming. Maybe we see them on 26 MY change over. or it will be like the G80 tire lottery.

it bugs me that michelins are not being made in enough quantity for these cars, it's been ongoing for years now across different models. Really don't understand how michelin haven't gotten a handle on this, covid supply chain shock is far enough in the rearview mirror they can't use that as an excuse anymore

You are right and if we manage to find a solution to this wheel hop problem the times recorded will be improved. I am waiting to finish my break-in and put on the summer tires to do tests with my dragy. I can't wait to be able to compare the results between 4WD and 4WD sport mode and between MDM and DSC OFF. Possibly warmer temperatures will help too..

I got Pirelli Pzero on mine... no luck either. I guess the Michelins are too expensive so they only fit them on press cars.

I contacted Michelin USA directly and their statement was that the fronts for M5 available 2/25 and rears 3/25. They couldn’t give exact dates.
