AC problems anyone?

It’s been consistently 70F lately and I’m noticing the ac is not working properly, it barely cools. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same? It’s definitely not going to work in the summer.

I’m hoping it’s some kind of eco ac things and it’s detecting outside temps and controlling the cooling, as it’s not uncomfortable inside but it’s not cooling like cars do when you hit LO… doing anything about it?

Lets hope its not another round of faulty V8 AC compressors. Back in 2020 there were a ton of BMW V8's with faulty AC compressors. My X5M was one of them. brand new 130K car without AC in the middle of summer. failed on day 3 and took several weeks to get a new part in since there were so many cars that had the issue.

It certainly feels like it, I don’t think it’s working and two owners have confirmed same, but it hast gotten warm enough to confirm

On my F80, when set to Auto, yes the ac system was working in "climate sensing" mode and, yep, it could be annoying on borderline early spring days. It may have only been like 70 out but perhaps a bit uncomfortable humidity wise and the fan would run super low. I'd have to put it on MAX to get it cool at first. But then on a hot day, just in reg auto mode it would immediately cool. Crazy.

I am not presuming that the G90's system is *anything* like that one, just that BMW has been known to over complicate their climate control systems for whatever reason. When my G90 comes in, i'll absolutely start messing around to see how this performs.

My son's 2018 Honda Accord has a more logical and well performing climate control system lol.

Have you tried the recirculation settings? I'd manually turn that on and see if performance changes.

Thanks, I tried everything and it doesn’t make a difference.

Wouldn’t it be redundant to have an electric AC compressor and an ICE driven one?

I know it may seem stupid but make sure the ac button is really on given idrive 8.5 is confusing (multiple times i thought is on but was not)
I usualy check by looking under the temperatures for small AC sign on or off because i have few times in my x5 it turns off by mistake

I will be dammed if that’s true in my case. Will check once it gets warm again, we went from 70 degree weather back to the 40s.

AC is working in the sense that it gets rid of fog / humidity... not sure if it can cool, i'll probably never know in this country except probably for the couple of summer days we might have every other years
