Am I crazy? Considering trading '25 X5M for G90 M5

Anyone compare these two? I love my x5m...just miss the lower ride height. Thanks!

They gonna ride about the same except the difference in feel in electric mode
I personally think that X5M will have sportier feel to it over G90

When i used to have my M8 and jump into the x5 (40i) i used to feel like night and day and the x5 felt so much comfortable
No that i have the m5 and jump into the X5 i feel the opposite with the m5 being more comfortable
The m5 sits high but not suv high and i think it is much more comfortable then x5 m and faster
X5 m has better interior quality for sure (better leather and more stitching ) otherwise i think m5 is better with rws and handling

That's great feedback! Appreciate it! Such a tough call...I love the x5m...it's fun to drive and the sound of the v8 is addicting!

I traded my 24 X5M for a G90 M5. It's different is about what I can say. Good in some ways, but in others, maybe not as much.

- No pre-conditioning feature (miss that)
- it is a little clunky moving from EV to ICE, but Im guessing that improves with SW updates.
- It feels a little lighter on its feet.
- The interior is a downgrade - the fake leather on the dash and doors is noticeable, but the cleaner design cues with the interior are cool.
- Not a fan of the seat adjustment limits - no side adjustments so the seats don't 'hug'.
- Mileage is wild - pulls a good 23+ mpg.

It's cool to have for sure, and don't regret my decision, but that's more because I bought my X5M right (and wasn't upside down on what I paid). That said, if I had to lose money on a trade in to get it, I would wait. Look for someone that did a 1 pay lease and burns though their mileage, and get someone else to take the initial depreciation hit.

Mines in production still but there's many threads now that indicate the G90 has preconditioning done through EV mode only.

I’ve been pondering the same thing but for a G99… Seems like a large downgrade on the interior from sitting in a G90.

More curious about the every day with the hybrid system.

You can precondition the G90 M5 from what I can tell. It's part of the EV portion of the car in the my BMW app.

The seats "do" hug. And un-hug after turning off the car. Maybe I don't understand what you had meant.

Is it not this?:

The seats can hug if you want and the g90 seats are really comfortable and more comfortable then any M car i sat in before
I precondition my car every day but it uses the batteries and no the engine so the engine will stay off while preconditioning
Also the battery preconditioning is great and quick

So it does have adjustable side bolstering?

Mine does NOT have adjustable seat bolstering AKA "hug". They also dont provide a massage option. And, the preconditioning moved from the simplicity of the key to having to use the app or programming departure times.

The seats might be comfortable but they are a step backwards from the X5M, just like the fake leather. I own it so Im not trashing it; just trying to keep it real for the purpose of the OPs question.

Unless they didn't include it in some of the halo cars, this screenshot isn't from a G90 M5. I just went to double check mine to be sure. It's not included with the seat function. And if I go to the BMW website and build one, it's not part of the options - interior just has color choice and trim as options.

Bolster and Massage are not options with these cars. It's missing the button to extend the seat at the knees as well, but you can do that in the menu that you are showing. The screen doesn't allow a bolster adjustment there either. I can't get to the arrows that you show (hence my confusion about that not being a G90).

Have you taken delivery of yours? Is it an NA car? Do you have a version for your software?...so many questions. Without it, the seats are set up for Santa Clause on the midriff area.

OK so ***update*** thanks to DHDCF

I spent 20min on the phone with the BMW "Genius" - I put it in quotations because he didn't know what the issue was; thought there was a button for it; wasn't sure if it was an option.

I spent some time looking on line at new cars available to confirm none of them have buttons that are different from my config (they dont). It's all software driven. I then made sure all of my software was up to date (it is). I then went through my seat re-calibration procedure (it's in the manual) and voila! The option appeared after going back into the back width adjustment option. Bolster is certainly there, and it is a lot more snug than the X5M would ever get.

So, it's included with our cars and if you dont see it go through the steps I did, and it should reset.

My updated feedback would be this is kind of a dumb design the adjustments to the seat are part buttons and part software only. Unnecessarily clunky and likely to save money but not clear - doesn't feel user friendly as compared to good ole switches.

No you're not. I was going to do it but the deal didn't happen for other reasons, but I had one on order and was ready to do the switch.
The X5M is much more luxurious and posh then the M5, but there's just something about an M5..

Interesting! Have you driven them back to back? Curious how they compare. I assume m5 handles a little better and a little better acceleration.

My M5 gets delivered in April. I have compared to the M8 and no comparison the M8 is better handling and comfort in every way but utility.

Nope... not crazy at all. I moved from a 2022 X5M to the G90. Drove the X5M for 3 years. I thought the X5M was a harsh ride. I had to put bigger sidewall tires to soften it some.
M5 is smoother and sportier. The exhaust note on both of these cars is lacking. The quality of the interior materials is the biggest noticeable difference. But overall no regrets.
