It is the same sound when you do a resonator delete and x pipe
It sounds good on idle and slow acceleration but when you push the car still sounds like vaccum cleaner and you can tell when he does flyby
This car needs a new rear muffler and this is why i am going with vavetronic

Can you attach the pictures of the pipework itself? I’m considering a purchase.

It all comes down to opinion, this is the solution for a consumer who wants their M5 to be woken up a bit more but not have to spend over 2x the amount of money. There are and will be many full exhaust options that we will test and work with as well in the future. We have already had multiple people with M5s on order hear it in person and are more than happy with the added sound without having to change the full rear. To each their own!

We are proud to offer this Midpipe as a fully tested, developed and fabricated option all done here in house in Orlando Florida.

Nice option! Curious, does the m5 have secondary cats and does this eliminate them? I’m assuming the primary cats are at the dp?

No, primary and secondary cats are in the downpipes. This is a 3.5 inch resonator delete with our X-pipe design for that throaty sound.

Good to know! I know for some that are anxious about removing any cats, this would be a viable option.

Ive done the H-pipe on my previous X6M F96 and it was the perfect balance of sound and tone...ill end up doing the H-pipe as soon as I get my car.

I am not a fan of very loud exhaust but this car is the quietest bmw i owned
My wife's x5 40 i is louder stock (for real)
After removing the 2 resonators and putting x pipe it is better but nothing near my previous stock m8
5k went to valvetronic despite being a lease but i can not survive with this setup lol
A lot of ppl will realize that midpipe is not enough on this car but at least a nice option to start with and i salute psi for being the first to have options for people who does not want a full exhaust

The M5 remains focused on its sports sedan mission thanks to all manner of performance-enhancing features, including adaptive dampers, available carbon-ceramic brakes, and a wide range of drive modes that take this four-door from mild to wild at the press of a button.

Love the throaty sound. Does removing just the midpipe also create some "pops and gurgles"?

Gurgles are available stock by putting M spund on with sport plus setting of the engine and transmissIon after downshifting and staying in the same gear

Good to know but do the gurgles become louder once you replace the midpipe? I know you replaced your midpipe with a X setup. Have you noticed the gurgles to be louder with M sound on compared to stock?

A couple of questions ...

1. I'm guessing the exhaust valves (I assume this car has them) are around the muffler and are still functional with this setup?

2. If so are the before and after clips in the video of your setup with valves closed vs open or of the car stock vs your midpipe?

Thanks

Sounds really good! You should offer a package option with aftermarket tips for those happy with just the mid pipe but also want more aggressive tips with the stock exhaust.

Also why is the M5 mid pipe significantly more expensive than for the M2/M3 when it looks to be a similar design, size, and material? ($1200 vs $2000)

We have analyzed the exhaust setup on both the G90 and G99 and have noted there are no valves in the back of the muffler system under the traditional meaning. However, when hitting the "M Sound" switch you can hear a difference in the tone.

In the video, you can see the "Stock Market sound Off" which would be the stock mid pipe with that M sound button switched off. Then a comparison with the PSI Midpipe on with the M sound button off. This comparison continues with M sound on in the same way.

I am glad you like the sound! Currently we have no outlook to make or add any exhaust tips further with the combination.

As for the pricing, overall this mid pipe is more complicated to make than the G8X midpipe. Between the transition pieces and the X pipe itself taking more time to build, it also uses 3.5 inch stainless steel piping which adds more cost as well.
