My New M5 Touring
Hi all, happy to share I am the very surprised new owner of an M5 Touring in the Southeast United States!
It all started when I ordered a new M2 (6MT, carbon everything, Java Green) last July. I also asked them to put me on “the list” for an M5 Touring, which they did while also being realistic that the wait could be very long for an allocation. The M2 has been very delayed…at this point we are thinking early April. My CA has been great all along, and I’ve really appreciated the dealer overall throughout. One day, a couple of months ago, he called me to let me know they got a touring in and asked if I’d like to come see it to confirm my interest in my own order. Sure enough, I drove down to look and knew I loved it. It was the exact spec I would order myself. Unfortunately, the car was not for sale. It had been ordered by the owner of the dealership group and was just being displayed until he moved it to his storage facility. It was billed as the first M5 Touring delivered to a customer in the USA. I wasn’t even allowed to open the doors or sit in it, but was smitten. Imagine my surprise when I got a call a couple of days ago. Apparently the owner purchased a 1 of 1 M5 coupe for charity, and therefore decided he no longer needed the wagon. He decided to sell. My CA called me and told me the car was available, first come first serve, at MSRP with no ADM, and I said yes immediately. I only have some crappy cell phone shots for now…she’s going in for full PPF tomorrow and I’ll post some more pics once I get her back! |

Congratulations!
Also, good interior shots of the KO interior. It's a bold choice (bolder than I initially thought), but it goes great with your car. I don't think it would have worked with my MBB order, after seeing this. Enjoy! Also, you mention that the person the car initially was slated to go to was someone that bought a "1 of 1 M5 coupe for charity". M5 coupe? Now THAT I want to see!

Reminds me of my Sakhir Orange M3, which I loved. I almost went with Sakhir Orange individual for my M5 build, but I think they're onto their 3rd iteration of SO and quite honestly none of them have looked exactly the same as the original version. I got so many compliments on it.

I wish there was some way to formally corroborate the “first”…I may reach out to BMW for help there though I’m not certain they will be able to help. I do believe it to be true because this certain dealer group owner is very, very famous for having an extremely large collection of “VIN #1” Corvettes, paid $3,000,000 for the first C8, and now formally purchased the “1 of 1” G90 at Pebble above. Essentially that “official” 1st car made this “unofficial” 1st car superfluous for him. Fine with me! My PPF guy was really, really excited to do the car and I know STEK wants all kind of information from him to help them support other installers on these cars in the future. It’s fun to be on the front edge of this (in the USA at least). |

MBB as I find it to be a very “bmw M” color, if that makes any sense.
I also considered Tanzanite Blue and Peridot Green Metallic but realized I wanted something a little bolder with the G90…MBB just seemed to fit that. Plus fewer delays. Enjoy the car, it’s beautiful!
