The 2025 BMW M5 Is Huge, Powerful, and Totally Different [Doug DeMuro]

This is the new 2025 BMW M5 and it's the 7th generation of an iconic lineage that debuted over 40 years ago. The new M5 has been controversial, mostly because of his gigantic size and heft, but it does have some redeeming qualities like a V8 powertrain with almost 720 horsepower. Today I'm reviewing this new BMW M5 and I'll show you the many quirks and features. I'm also going to get behind the wheel and show you what it's like to drive.

Anyone past break-in (or eschewing the break-in), and opening it up yet? Wonder if this motor will wake up a bit more with a few thousand miles on it.

I didn’t love the F90 LCI at first, but after between 5-10k miles it felt right as rain.

I owned F90 and F92. Did enjoy the F92 little bit more, but the G90 is way way better especially as a daily. Just finished the break-in it was such a long 2000km. Since day one I was trying not to floor it but you can feel the low end torque from the EV. I can feel its much faster than F90 didnt try Dragy yet but I will soon.

Nice! Yeah grab a dragy when you can, would love to see it. I’ve driven a handful of hybrids, and even slow ones can feel quick. I assume this is a bit different though.

I really can’t get over the design of this thing, but am going to test drive in the next few months before the F90 lease is up. If the drive is rewarding enough, I may add it to the list…

All I can say is his review style is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I get the schtick and purpose, it's just a bit too fatiguing for my taste.

You have to tune it! JB4 or MHD or Dinan. Then it will really open up!

Same here. His format is lazy and I don't give a shit about a cars Easter egg or some other nonsense that 17 people would actually care about. Zero value add.

It can be a struggle to get through some of his reviews. This one I was able to watch all the way to the end, but that's usually not the case. I do agree with his sentiment; if you look at this M5 in a vacuum, it's exactly what an M5 should be.

I agree with that sentiment as well. It's precisely why I ordered one. The G90 hits the points that I feel an M5 should be, and prioritizes many of the things that I do. From a singular perspective it fits me. I also get the perspective of people coming from F90's or track warriors that are used to things in that world. In some respects, when you look at it in that light, yeah it could be considered disappointing. Not to ME, in any respect, but I get how some might view it that way. But the car demands to be driven in order to really give it a fair shake, and I feel a fair number of those naysayers might just change their mind if they actually do get a chance to.

As far as his review style goes, I had to force myself to sit through the whole thing and found myself cringing so many times (and I clearly am interested in this car review more than others). It's indicative of YouTubers as a whole: gotta differentiate yourself, for good or ill. Even if they hate you, at least they're clicking.

ive done dozens of trackdays since the F90 came out and I've seen a grand total of 1 at the track. no one with a brain is tracking these unless maybe you have the CS. is the weight a legit complaint? yes of course but the F90/G90 are not track cars.

Don't think for one second the "too old" argument didn't cross my mind either in regards to my own criticism

I prefer NOT to think that, but ehhhh who knows. lol

Guys you need to understand, he cuts his reviews per parts delibaretely. If you want to skip all the stupid nerdy stuff (which noone cares about) and go through to the driving review, just watch the driving part. That is what I do for all his reviews.

By the way, his comment about the new M5 is pretty much spot on. Can't wait to get my hands on mine.

I might be in the minority here, but I like the looks of this car and prefer the sedan to the touring version.

Hmm, Doug "E" DeMuro is late to the game on this one,...I mean, there has long been enough substantial and creditable reviews of the G90 already! Doug's review would just be fore the "quirks"!

Doug has a style that I personally love. I like to see the things he focuses on, that's the point. He points out things that others don't.

The stupid nerdy parts is the best part and it's something I care deeply about. Driving review isn't that important, there's a lot of those already but I like to see the "special" parts of the car, like the M logo on the B Pillar. That's what makes Doug, Doug.

I know when BMW come with a new car, alot will hate the design and by time it grows on you. The M3 came out and the BMW 7 (G70). Look how unusal the 2003 7 series looked and yet people loved it.
Just drive one and youll buy it. I bought the G90 with little expectation and didnt test drove one. Ended up very happy with the car.

Agree, also he just screams White guy for Harris...

I just read where they laid off 50% of the staff at Cars and Bids...

A guy near me has a Blue G90...so far..it sounds like shit when he goes by..but it is quick
