Nice review but I would've liked to also see them race the 2.

For the Porsche to even compete with the M5 you have to spend at minimum $30k more.
The Panamera version offered at the same price point as the G90 is anemic and sad. Quality and steering feel of it is good, but so boring at that trim level you might as well bring a blanket to take a nap.

The interior quality of the Porsche is several galaxies away from bmw. I loved my cayenne turbo cohiba leather interior. It just depends if that’s what you value or not but bmw definitely slipped this time

P car for sure, but you’re spending $$$$ before it catches up to the M5 in raw performance. But god do they feel fantastic to drive.

It seemed like a fair review, with the reviewers personal opinions stated when applicable . Porsche looks older inside and out, is slower and much more expensive. BMW M5 would rip it a new one around the track or in any real spirited driving situation.
Even this initial offering of the M5 appears to be a superior vehicle -- especially if you can get full leather in 2026. As successful as Porsche is as a company, they have a serious value issue when it comes to the prices of their cars. The M5 and X5 would be better served if BMW would give one more extra Comfort setting on the adjustable suspension. That would really make the cars perfect. By the way I had an f90 M5 competition and currently have a 2025 x5m competition so I have some experience with M cars. |

Panameras are so expensive but the GTS is 4,639 lbs - nearly 700 lbs lighter than the turbo e-hybrid and 900 lbs lighter than the m5 touring. The hybrids depreciate faster, too.

I think a Turbo E Hybrid might actually be faster. I had a chance to drive one at a Porsche Experience and it felt faster than a Taycan Turbo S. The combo of both powertains is exactly why bmw made the m5 hybrid. But at the end of the day even a Turbo S exists where as the m5 Is hybrid only. Which I think is the mistake. Make the m5 and then the hybrid.

I agree, I’d love it if they made an ICE M5 alongside the hybrid.

Uh.. the question Who makes the best four-door performance car?
Obviously, BMW with the M3 duh. But if we are competing for second place at the county fair, then I’ll have to give it to the Porsche even though I can’t see myself buying a Panamera. |

A hard choice between a cheap(relative) pig with a generic slushbox and an expensive beauty with a dedicated DCT.
![]() It seems EA825TT has better documented engine reliability, although I feel S63 (and perhaps S68) suffers more from the fuel economy engine oil than anything. (0W-30 with HTHS below 3.5 on a 750+Nm engine? Really?)
