Passport 9500ix on sale for $405

Right now as one of Amazon's lightning deals they have the 9500ix radar detector on sale for $405. That's over $60 cheaper then I've seen anywhere else. But act fast because the deal is only good until 2:00pm PST or until supplies run out.

"Best" is subjective. The V1 has the arrows, which everyone who owns one seems to love, but the 9500ix has a built in GPS which you can use to mark places that constantly give off false positives and that will warn you about speed cameras and common speed traps. (maintained via a database which can be updated with a PC and USB cable)

In any case this is a great price for the 9500ix. So if you're in the market for this model then this is the best price you're going to find.

I've had it on my Amazon wish list for months hoping someone in my family would get me one for Christmas, but when I saw this deal I couldn't pass it up either.

I've been waiting for a price drop on the 9500ix and have been checking eBay for the past two months. Not really the best place to go for electronics but this sure solves that problem. Thanks

According to this it locks everything so if a cop stays hidden near a store with door opener..you might not be able to detect it...

Marcelo

That's not the case. It locks out signals based on types. granted if a cop is sitting behind a K band source and running K band RADAR you might be in trouble, but chances are the door is going to screw with his gun the same way it screws with your detector.

I've owned a V1, 8500, and now a 9500, and the 9500 blows the other two away. The detecton performance is a wash, but the GPS features on the 9500 put it far ahead of the other two. False alarms on a daily commute are completely gone. Annoying alerts for door openers while you're driving through a parking lot at 5MPH are gone as well.

If the 9500 goes off on your normal route, you hit the brakes and start looking for the cop.

+1 same here, had v1, 8500 and 9500 and though v1 does seem better in earlier detection, its fallen behind in terms of adding new technology to the radar , including GPS feature, i now run the 9500 in my car

I'll stick with better detection and threat count display of the V1. Just a question for those using the Escort, if it's got a GPS tag for a location as a false alarm, and an officer sits in that same spot, will the Escort alert you? I assume that it has an internal threat count, but just doesn't post it, no?

Unless the radar is at the exact frequency as the false threat you blocked, which is very unlikely, it will recognize it

The 8500 and 9500 will both display multiple threats just like the V1, and the detection is just as good.

The lockout function is based on location and frequency. The only way it's not going to show the cop is if he's at exactly the same frequency as the false alarm, and if that's the case he probably wouldn't be able to operate there anyway because of interference.

Cool, thanks. It sounds like they're finally getting their act together. I do agree that Valentine is overdue for an udpate of any kind, it really hasn't changed since the addition (worthless as it is) of laser detection.

Get mine tomorrow - thanks man - even on eBay these things go for no less than $450.

Now I need two cig outlets though - one for the 9500ix and the Garmin!

I'd hard wire the detector to the dome light. Check out the DIY section, there's at least 3 write ups, and it's the way to go for sure.

I have had my 9500ix for about 2 weeks. LOVE it! This is my 1st radar detector so I cannot compare to others. However, over the past two weeks it has detected/alerted me on at least two occasions where I may have been been pulled over. IMHO I would say this is "one of the best" detectors on the market. The software is also very easy to install and like the idea of the software upgrades.

Thanks. Actually, my garmin runs on battery power for 4-6 hours at least so I only need the one outlet.

I love this rig! Turns on/off with my car. Identifies the pigs way in advance!!! Stores any false alarms. Identifies those money-grubbing red light camera. Looks great in blue on the car! Thanks a ton for this steal of a deal!

just did a cross country trip with my 9500ix, this thing is great, saved my butt many times. Kept the cruise set 19 MPH over the limit the entire 1400 mile trip, only slowing for traffic or coppers oh yeah and that darn SNOW STORM i hit.
