The Audi R8, Slowest Car Ever Built??
I saw this on the UK page for the Audi R8. Its not photo shopped but i put a picture up in case it is changed later. Does it make sense??
Here's the link to the actual website. I just thought this was too funny. http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/new_cars/r8/r8.html

Old news, there used to be an add that said "slowest car ever built" and then later they confess is that they are trying to catch your attention.

Then why would a company call their car slow to catch people's attention? If a company wanted to get attention they should call their car the geyest car they ever built.

I think it's a pretty solid marketing ploy.
Plus with the V-10 it will fly, and it's already one of the best looking cars in the world. |

audi isn't implying that the R8 is the slowest car (speed-wise). they're trying to say that they've been producing the R8 and all that went into developing it longer than any of their other cars.
as jpsimon said, it says under the photo '70 years in the making'. there's also a commercial that goes with this marketing strategy.

I'm sure that some of you have driven the R8 so I'm asking for your opinion on this. Is this the real acceleration of the car:
I thought that it would be quite faster, if you for instance look at the acceleration between 80 and 200 km/h (so that the launching is out of the "equation"), this is the same as the stock 135i/335i would do... |

I drove an R8, and felt like my 335i with JB3 gave more oomph in the pants.
Great car, could use more power. The V10 should be perfect.
