What's next? (S5 is Sold)
So, Audi bought my S5 back... Time to think about the next car, I would love to stick with a V8 but a 335 would work to. What cars are even out there im so lost, because I wasnt expecting to have to pick up another car so soon.
![]() Oh well, so what are we looking at? M3 335 MSport C63 Trying to keep it between 50-60k

Just read about your clutch problem, that is ridiculous. I don't understand car dealers with shitty service. Mine is far from great and can't seem to fix some interior rattles that should require just a few hours and a wrench or at most ordering some new plastic pieces. How come I get much, much better service at a nice store spending $300 on a belt that they will glady replace at the slightest imperfection, yet on a $50k car it takes a month to get an appointment if I need a loaner. I can't believe your dealer took 2 weeks to even get to your car's transmission and find that the throwout bearing sucked. Sorry OT, end of rant.
Depending on how picky you are you should get on bmwusa right quick and look at the options you are going to want and see if you can even get one quickly (you aren't going to want to be without a car for months if you have to order it). I saw the idea of the Cayenne and that might be a good idea if your dad's already got the m6 and 330 and you have full access to them. Variety is the spice of life and you'll like like the hero getting a car that serves the whole family better when someone wants a bucket of paint of something random that isn't fitting in a smaller car.

about 35 days in the dealer due to a clutch and transmission malfunction is the quick description (a well known throwout bearing defect that Audi wont address) Rye you say? Where?

Anyway...I would probably go for the M3 or C63 to be honest. Though it might be worth looking into the CTS-V. Personally I'm not a huge fan of it's styling but it makes up for it in performance!

Any word on how the MB dealers are? If they are negotiating on the cars at all, I would love to go take the C63 for a spin the whole car just seems like a riot haha

Greeney,
The M3 is a great car, great chassis and practical too. The C63 is another great car but different, it's chassis isn't such a star but the engine most definitely is and though the 335i is surprising cheap along side the others it is equally as good looking as the M3 when fitted with the M/Sport bodykit and it's very tunable if you are into this, but regardless of it's potential it not as special as the other two. But may I ask something, are you totally fed up with Audi cars after this experience or do you just think you were unlucky with this one? The reason I ask is that if you are seriously considering the 335i then I think you have to try out the new S4, especially with DSG and SportDiff. It's already proven to be quicker than the 335i in no less than 4 comparison tests and has an exhaust/engine note similar to a Porsche which can't be all that bad a sound to live with. After I drove one I was surprised as to how sweeter the chassis felt with this diff and how sweeter the whole experience was with DSG compared to the 6sp manual in the S5. P.S. I agree with your opinion of going for a CTS, we had something similar over here when Rover got into trouble. No matter how cheap they were and they were very cheap brand new I still wouldn't have touched one. |

I can help you with anything about the C63. We have one (without the PP package btw).
It's a great car by any standards, and it definitely holds its own compared to the M3. What I like about it: -The seats -The not-so-subtle looks (fitting for a not-so-old-persony car) -The barking, rumbling exhaust -Crackling throttle-blipped downshifts -Crisp, direct steering -Body roll is kept in check pretty well, and the ride isn't harsh to me (definitely not like how some editors write it off as) -COMAND system is nice. Better than the outgoing iDrive, but not as good as iDrive 2.0 imo -On demand oversteer What I don't like about it: -The transmission is a two-sided story...it rips off upshifts with serious amounts of ferocity, and the downshifts are intoxicating, but the lag kills a lot of the fun. It's pull-pause-bam unless you're going WOT. You can't stack commands, so you can't jump gears or go to the highest gear. You can jump to the lowest by holding the left paddle though. -The sound system is lacking, even in comparison to the "lowly" non-M e9X's. No EQ settings, NO BASS (btw I'm not a bass junkie). -Traction control is bothersome. Yes, you can step it down, but it still intervenes a little too frequently, even in a straight line. Maybe the lack of an LSD (which comes with the PP package) can account for some of this. -The only fault I can find with the interior is the large slab of hard-touch plastic that serves as the overall base for the IP. -iPod interface is extremely lacking. You plug it into a cord inside the glove box, and you don't get any sort of screen interface. You have to choose a playlist/artist then navigate that one exclusive list using the steering wheel inputs and the instrument menu inside the speedo. -Brakes are firm and linear, but the braking performance itself isn't the greatest.
