BMW Drops "Ultimate Driving Machine" Slogan
http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/07/b...iving-machine/
Does anyone else think that this is a bad move for BMW? |

Very bad move. That's what everyone thinks of - esp 31 years of carrying the slogan. Is this part of their changing over to luxury-from-performance campaign to reach the "idea" class? Ugh.

i guess BMW really is a company of idea. and they're showing it now by implementing their idea of changing the slogan.
but i think people will still call them "the ultimate driving machine" even if they use "a company of ideas" more.

They've been using "A Company of Idea" in theire aggressive new marketing campaign, but they haven't dropped the "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan.

As posted elsewhere:
"Okay, this is pure speculation. BMW isn't run by a bunch of fuckin' retards. They know that if they went out and put marshmellow suspensions on all their cars, that they'd be no better than MB. And to be honest, I think that rivalry just might have the honor of being the single biggest driving factor for the company. The whole article is talking about targetting certain groups for the sake of MARKETING. Not in terms of product design."

What is Lexus slogan again? Road to Perfection? If so thats still nice. But BMW should have kept it. It makes em sound soft. What next a white and pink BMW symbol?

well, they've pretty much stopped building the "ultimate driving machine" so I can see why they dropped the slogan
an "ultimate driving machine" isn't a 3600 lb coupe, and doesn't require bluetooth and 46 way heated power seats with CA, Xenons...... it's the "ultimate technology for no apparent reason machine" now "ultimate make BMW a crapload of money machine" would also fly |
