Which Photoshop should I buy ??

Hey guys, just to edit car pics and make them look like the ones here....

which photoshop program should I buy ??

Adobe have so many variations that it gets confusing....

I use photoshop cs3 and cs4. But I prefer CS4 its the latest one.. I do have another question, do you use a PC or a Mac? cause if you have a mac I can recommend another software as an alternative

you cant rip it from a friend or something?... i think the prices for photoshop is mad ridiculous!
i got CS3 off my friend who lives on campus...that was a major plus, they pretty much give you it for free

CS3 is a great one tho. havent tried the new CS4

Well there's 2 versions of Photoshop itself: Photoshop and Photoshop Extended. You don't need Extended because that's for 3D and motion stuff.

Then there's also Photoshop Lightroom which is for photo management and adjustments (photographer's tool, not really made for letting you mess around with pictures, although it can somewhat do it as well).

There's also Photoshop Elements that lets you manage and edit your photos. It's got some parts of Lightroom (in terms of management and adjustments), but also gives you a little bit of control in terms of manipulation (adding text, taking wheels and adding it to a car, etc).

When someone says they used Photoshop, they normally don't mean Elements, so if you want the full effect, go with the regular Photoshop, but you certainly don't need Photoshop Extended.

O to the T but buy the newest version CS4. You should not buy photoshop if you can't tell apart the programs though....

true, if you will be spending money you might as well just get photoshop CS4. I personally use aperture for editing my photos. Aperture is exclusively for mac. However, I have CS3 and CS4 for my graphic designing and photo manipulation. I've used Lightroom b4, it is similar to aperture and photoshop but it has very limited capability.

So I say, if your not a mac user, I'd go with either photoshop lightroom or Photoshop CS4.

CS4 crashes on me at the most crucial of moments. might be the GPU acceleration bullshit they use so the windows glide. im sure theres more to it but not for me!

i still opt for CS3 everytime
