do i need a DSLR?
i want to be able to take some nice photo's of my car such as rolling shots and things like that. do i need a DSLR to do this or can i just adjust shutter speed on any advanced camera and get good quality photo's...
can any of you guys help me decide on which camera to get, dont want to spend too much, thinking on getting a refurbished Sony DSCH10 for about 180$ + 20$ replacement plan

It's all possible with a camera that can adjust shutter speed, but a DSLR makes it a lot easier since you can adjust just about anything without having the camera do it for you.

I was strickly a point and shoot camera guy, even got the latest 12 MP cam when it first came out, but the flexibility of a DSLR and the clarity of the pictures makes it so worth it. When i use my point and shoot camera now, it feels like a toy...invest in a quality DSLR and you'll never look back.
Also get either Nikon or Canon, ive done my fare share of research before purchasing my DSLR and Sony, Pentax, etc really doesnt match up to Nikon or Canon. Besides, Sony's strong point isnt cameras anyway...check out the Nikon D40, those are pretty cheap and a great starter DSLR.

Beware of this statement as some sony guy will jump on you, Sony bought out the whole minolta camera development department so Sony is currently the minolta camp now.
However, i have to agree on the part that most people should stick with Nikon or Canon. They provide some extremely good lenses.

YES YOU DO! NOW!!!
Jokes aside...I would really recommend getting one. You will start taking pics of your car and next thing you know you're hooked on photography. Now, if the lens is not detachable, it's not an SLR.

i think the DSLR's are too expensive for me, is it not worth buying a normal ADVANCED camera just not DSLR, dont get me wrong i can imagine the difference between the two, but i think its just more for my budget, can anybody lead me in the right direction to getting a good camera just not a DSLR so i dont have to pay 500$ +
for example can i get amazing pictures with these? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218062139060 http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665360043

I would suggest you save 200 more and get something that will not only service you better but will hold it's value better than those options.

i know what your going through man, i really want a camera too, i got 8.2 mp olympus point and shoot when i really needed a camera and tried to take some pics of cars with it and it came out like shit, i mean even with photoshop editing i couldn't get anywhere. one day i borrowed a DSLR from my teacher it was canon xti (not that good of a DSLR) but the difference was like day and night (i used it on bimmerfest and i got some amazing shots, example is below). i am telling you, don't get the point and shoot right now, get through those 2+3 months w/o a camera so you can save some money for a DSLR and when you get it, you can shoot me a PM and we can take some pics of your car (hopefully i will have a camera + car by then ) if you want some rolling shots like that, once you get your DSLR i can take pics of your car for free no charge.
for the last one ISO was little high so thats why it has so much "noise" |

with the D40 he is able to grow into it until he feels that its not enough. ALso for the price with the lens package its a great value under 500. Plus Nikon makes a much better body/lens than Sony.
