Do 5-series not hold their value???

I was just searching yesterday and found so many cheap 5-series. Check it out.

There's tons for sale under $37,000 and even the 550i you can find under $40,000

I don't know if these are base models (don't know much about the 5 series) but they seem ridiculously cheap to me. Anyone else?

you can get E60 M5's for mid 40's

Its because the economy went to the shitter man & cars are a depreciating asset.

The general rule is that the more expensive they are, the harder they depreciate.

While you're at it also check out the 7series They depreciate as much, if not more than the 5ers

The bigger the model the quicker it drops, it's a good rule of thumb. The 5 series bad, the 7 series worse.

Totally different car to the M3 and as it's the diesel (admittedly the 600Nm version) it's got nothing like the acceleration but I seriously love the car, as does all of my workmates. When compared to the equivalent 5 series (535d) I couldn't compare to driving experience the XF is superior in every single way, plus exactly works out cheaper if you spec the BMW to the same level of standard kit that comes on the XF. Another great thing about it is the value it holds, roughly £2K better than a 535d which if you spec the Beemer to the same increases that advantage to more like £8K. It was a no brainer.

You get the SV8 over there, go have a go in one and then a 550i, see if your opinion matches my own.

I know what you mean but it's a Jaguar after all and such things are beneath them.

One thing I will say though is that the automatic is exceptional, in D mode it shifts exactly at the time you would do so yourself in normal driving and I would quite happily leave it in S mode on the track, never shifting to manual mode so good is it's own judgement and then of course there's manual mode which would please the owners of the M-DCT that enjoy the jerk when shifting as the XF mimics S5 mode in M-DCT perfectly.

One thing I wish I had ordered was the new option of XFR seats and trim, the added lateral support would have been welcomed.

And 2008 are not lease returns. I wonder if these are buybacks, repos, etc.
