My first attempt at rig rolling shots.
...and it looks like I'm in need of a lot of help.
Here are the final products: ![]() ![]() Here is an original. I had to use WAY to much PS to make it look halfway decent. ![]() I only had a short pole so I couldn't get the whole car in the frame. I'll go to Home Depot to get a longer one. Some questions: 1. Is it possible to do this in bright daylight without a filter? I couldn't get any long exposure times even with f22 and ISO100. You must have to be driving ad 50mph+ to get any motion. 2. Is it better to push the car or drive it? I found the car to be sharper when pushed (the two I posted are being pushed at 1mph max), but the motion blur obviously wasn't as apparent. So if you guys have any tips, tricks or criticisms let me know. Thanks guys. |

Definitely need a dark ND filter in the day time. I like to push the car for at least 10-15 seconds. No need to drive the car.
Be careful pushing the car too fast especially if the ground isn't completely smooth. My camera started bouncing a bit because I was pushing the car too fast and ended up putting a small dent in my roof. I'm sure the hood is a bit stronger though.

Filters are the only way for daylight. Even at ISO50 @ f32, I have problems. A 10 stop ND filter would be awesome but need to be careful of vignetting on a UWA.
I would recommend pushing the car with the gearbox in neutral. Less vibration from the engine and only vibration should be from the road. This was the original motion shot ![]() Here it is finally edited ![]() I had to use a composite of the stationary shot and the motion shot to bring back sharpness. If I had pushed, would have required WAY less editing. |

OK, looks like I need a filter. Something like this would probably work:

^^ Cool- I might just go with the adjustable polarizing one for the versatility for now. If I do, I'll definitely post the results/feedback here.
Thanks for everyone's help guys! |
