Unhappy What's wrong with Irvine PD?

This is getting ridiculous..can't they give anyone a break? I've gotten 6 or 7 fix-it tickets since July and and 3 speeding tickets since April which included a few things to fix. My tickets were ALL in Irvine and I've gotten fix-its for my license plate lights being too blue (they are RD LEDs), blue angel eyes (rd LED angel eyes), no reflectors on the car, sticker on the windshield, tints, running dealership plates temporarily, no front plate, and exhaust so far.

My speeding tickets were 51 in a 45, 55 in a 45, and 83 in a 65 and I all of these I was just going with the flow of traffic. Seriously there's cops here that hide behind bushes to bust people for speeding and behind trees by stop signs. I don't think I've ever passed a day not seeing at least two people pulled over here.

This is my third or fourth time being pulled over by the same officer..he even knew my name..and this time he was going the opposite direction and made a sudden U-Turn as soon as he saw my car. It was like he turned around just to see if anything anything is wrong with it..he followed me for like a minute then turned on his lights and gives me a ticket for tint (he asked me to roll up my window) and license plate lights WTF.

I'm not saying I didn't deserve any of these tickets but seriously I'm getting sick and tired of this. Has anyone else been pulled over here in Irvine or anywhere else for these kind of things? I know tons of people on the forum have similar mods and never see them complaining about these kind of things other than tints and front plates. Or is it just Irvine PD? I'm thinking about filing harassment on that officer because it seems like he is just out to get me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'll go out on a limb, and say the problem isn't with the Irvine PD. Honestly, you flagrantly violate DOT standards and are upset when you get caught. (In some states, any blue lights coming from a vehicle must be emergency vehicles only.)

Jesus, they're probably giving you tickets, in part, for bad taste. Blue angel eyes? Yuck.

As for speeding, buy a radar detector. It's one of the best investments a chronic speeder can make.

The OP understands he deserves the tickets, so we can avoid having that whole discussion yet again. Cops everywhere are stepping up enforcement - they hide under bridges and behind objects here too, nothing new. You certainly deserved the tickets, but they need income too. You're easy for them.

Radar detectors really don't help like they used to. Any town cop has POP, and any state trooper or highway patrol has laser.

Don't break the law if you're not prepared to handle the consequences.

never had any repeated issues like that with any police officers. cops in irvine are just bored. it does sound like that guy is out for you though, if he made a u-turn just to pull you over.

You should get a siren to go with the blue lights you installed on your car. Then you should follow that police officer and pull him over. When you do this, you are required to ask the officer "do you know why I am pulling you over?"

hey asshole read the thread I'm not upset that I got the tickets I was just simply asking if anyone else has been pulled over so many times for things like these. Seriously I can't stand people like you. Everyone has their own tastes, why don't you show some respect and stfu..tons of people have these angel eyes..if you don't like something just don't say anything, I never asked you if you like it or not so why don't you GTFO out of my thread.

I guess..Its just the amount of times I get pulled over and for what I get pulled over for..like reflectors. What kind of cop goes around the city and notices that a car doesn't have reflectors?

yeah man but huntington beach cops are pretty chill imo. I once had an officer ask me at a stop light near bella terra telling me my car is nice and he asked me what kind of exhaust suspension and wheels I have haha

Easy target for a hurting economy. They need revenue. . . You give them reason to take it.
Sorry for the bad luck.
There's not much crime in Irvine. They need something to do with their time.

With your attitude, I'm sure your harassment charge against Officer Blue Lights will go well. Not to mention, you actually WERE breaking the law in every instance, right? "Yeah, I was breaking the law, but he shouldn't have pulled me over, your honor."

Keep us informed with the harassment thing. It should be good for a couple of laughs.

lol. i got pulled over just for tint in a downtown not too long ago. i guess he thought he was doing the world a favor.

goody4, some laws are just ridiculous. you can always make counter arguments about almost all the laws we have. blue LED license plate lights? and your making comparisons with emergency vehicle lights?

i don't think RD LED license plate lights are even that blue... assuming you have the same cluster ones i have, they're pretty white to me.

i had a friend who was pulled over for doing 75 on a 65 highway. now that is ridiculous.

why are you still here?
I'm not upset I got the tickets, I knew for certain things, I would get pulled over like tint etc etc. I'm just TIRED of getting pulled over
And I don't have an attitude problem its just people like you tick me off. If you have something negative to say just DON'T say it. And the harassment thing was just a thought. He could have pulled over the 4 or 5 other cars that were all going the same speed but he chose me. And after that it seems like whenever he sees me, he looks for something that is wrong with my car and pulls me over for it. I just don't think its normal for an officer to be doing this sort of thing.

What is so ridiculous about that?

They do let 5 MPH off but not probably more.

Damn I live in Irvine but haven't gotten pulled over yet (knock on wood). I got tints, no front plates, and probably going to get an exhaust soon. The closest I got to being pulled over was when a cop followed me for a couple of blocks, pulled next to me, had my window down, then he sped off. Guess I got lucky because I thought he was going to pull me over.

Only you can say something negative, no one else? I didn't see the Only Dipshits Can Post Derogatory Comments rule.

Did you ever consider if Officer Blue Lights wonders why the same moron keeps passing his way with the same vehicle infractions, day-after-day? What's it going to take to get you to fix it? 10...20... more tickets?

How about a license revocation if enough tickets are accumulated? (This act varies from state-to-state.) That would solve your issue.

Here's probably the only point we can agree on: The highway patrol is nothing more than glorified revenue collection agency that has its representatives carry sidearms.

But, I wouldn't go throwing anything I've done wrong in the past in the face of a police officer time and again, which to his mind, is what you're doing. Do think he thinks you're a rebellious young punk each time he walks up to your window? You bet he does. Get your act together, address the illegal modifications on your car, and be done with it. Or not.

btw, how the hell are the RD LED angels blue????

I mean, especially when your headlights are on!!

You can hardly see them enough to say they're blue.. and to me, they're white.. which is why I got them...

license plate light I don't know.. never seen it in person

and no reflectors? wthell?
I've never heard that..
can't you be like "what are you talking about officer?
I got it like that from the dealer!
(That will only work if your painted reflector is OEM with OEM part numbers...)

I'm gonna have to agree. Irvine cops are so bored, they'll jump at any chance to write a ticket because it generates revenue for them and allows them to meet their monthly quota. That cop is going to keep pulling you over for all of those mods until you correct them, simply because he can. As long as you're running around with illegal tint, painted reflectors, and etc, that gives him reason to pull you over. Yes, he probably has it out for you too, and that might be because he's had to pull you over repeatedly for the same infractions.

It sucks, but what can you do? BTW where does he usually pull you over? It'd be nice to know so the rest of us can keep an eye out when we're in Irvine.

Yup, I remember a thread a while back about someone being pulled over for painted reflectors. It seems like most cops won't notice though, because the orange corners of our headlights could be reflectors when not lit up, for all they know. If it's daytime, that's another story.

Isn't California having a huge budget crisis right now? Your car is an easy target. Plus, the cop that "knows your name" is probably angry that you didn't get the fix-it ticket fixed the first several times. He's probably drunk on power, maybe jealous of your car, but what he's doing is unfortunately legalized extortion.

Some of the tickets sure are crappy though .. tint, 6mph over, and a sticker on the windshield?? c'mon!

Driving a modded car makes you an easy target. It sucks, but that's the unfortunate truth.
