Help me get a phone...
For my GF...
She's T-mobile user. A lot of people may hate them and a lot may not... I'm an Iphone user and using ATT. I hate the phone and same time I like it. But I don't care. It does what I need and when I need it... So let's not get too negative here. Anyways, I been meaning to get my gf a phone. Upgrade her crappy small phone to something better. I told her get Iphone since it's cheap right now. But she doesn't want it. Basically need something that is 3G. Unlimited texting... (we text a lot) barely anything talking. But probably lots of site surfing. She doesn't want touchscreen only phones... Needs to have a keyboard. My first choice for her before was the G1. But since newer android phones are coming out. The G1 is getting too old. I was going for HTC but I'm not sure if that has keyboard built in. I wanted to get her Droid but it looks like it's with Verizon atm... not sure about verizon right now seems pretty costly. So I saw moto cliq/blur ... seems like a good phone, watched some reviews on cnet and they gave it a good score. What does OT thinks??

i will go with HTC with what she's asking for
i currently have the TouchPro and still doing brilliant, but its getting annoying with its size being in my pocket. i am actually thinking of getting the iphone now. 2 phones came up, Nokia N97 and HTC Touch Pro 2, these 2 are like mini notebooks you carry around in the pocket or purse. will only recommend if she a serious poweruser for the smartphones as these will definitely burn hole in pocket with alot of features and capabilites that not many will know or want to use. |

lol... she doesn't like crackberry. I remember we checked the HTC before. And it did not come with keyboard. Or maybe I was looking at the wrong one.

I'll check them out when I get home from work... Especially the HTC 2. Not sure if i can say she's a power user. But she wants online capabilities and texting... so we'll see. Good thing you showed me that htc 2. I was originally gonna go with moto cliq lol

I used to have the TouchPro, and now I have the TouchPro 2. Some people said that they're big ass phones, but the size doesn't bug me at all. The TP2 is the same size as an iPhone, just a little thicker due to the keyboard.
I'd have to say, HTC is a winner. TP2 does have some glitches, but they're manageable.

I'd just get the G1. It's everything you described that she wants/needs.
The Touch Pro2 is nice but I for one cannot stand Windows Mobile, that's just me though. |

I've been using the touch pro 2 for a couple of months now... its a great phone but sometimes I definitely want to chuck it out of a window. If I were you I would get her an android phone (much more user friendly)

The cliq is for people who like to stay connect on social networks, it is design for the 20somethings who texts and post to facebook or twitter all the time. Plus Motorola makes solid products.
You do not want a phone with MS mobile, every phone I have seen with it does not work well, it hangs and freezes and does things you do not expect, I have MotoQ with MS mobile and can not tell you have many time I had to remove the battery to reset it because the OS locked up, (corporate phone so I do not have much choice) Be aware the cliq is only Android 1.5 right now, Motorola is rumor to be upgrading it to 2.0 sometime soon, just not clear when. This is the advantage the iphone has over them all, when apple releases an update which is once every 3 month everyone gets it at one time no matter who the service provider is anywhere in the world, which not true for Android phones, all the android phones are on different version and no clear path to when and if they can be upgraded. I know some of the first android phone can not be updated to 2.0 or above so you need new hardware if you want the new features. I highly doubt google will have their own branded phone, does not follow their business model, just because someone saw someone walking around the google campus with a phone does not mean they are going to market with it, they could be testing software feature on new hardward and HTC just happens to have those new features. Just something to think about. |
