What about a World of Starcraft?
I'm sure it has been thought of. WoS could be a pretty fun game. Of course, it will take years, possibly a decade to develop. But, with Blizzard's knowledge of making high quality MMORPG games, WoS could be the next WoW. Thoughts?

Blizzard is already at work on their next-gen (WoW replacing) MMO. It's codenamed project 'Hydra'. And they have officially stated that it will be based on a completely new Intellectual Property. (ie. no WoDiablo, WoStarCraft, WoWarcraft 2)

It would ruin starcraft for me. I'm sorry to say. I refuse to play WoW because it would twist the bleak, harsh "world" of Warcraft 1 that I loved growing up into a more normal fantasy world. Warcraft 1 and 2 were incredibly dark for their time; and Starcraft has a place in my heart as well. I just feel like WoS would ruin it.

I would be up for a Starcraft Universe MMO. It'd have to be different from WoW though...WoW makes sense that you can be Undead, Orc, Troll, Human, some kind of Elf, Dwarf, etc., and have certain class restrictions.
But how could you in the Starcraft Universe, be a Protoss (race) Zealot (class) and lose 1vs1 to a Zerg (race) Zergling (class) or Terran (race) Marine (class)? I could see the Starcraft MMO as being two different Terran Factions with Zerg and Protoss NPC's. However, I think that WoW really works better. Interplanetary travel, and things like that would make the game feel like EVE or the Star Wars/Star Trek MMO's. I suppose they could set up interplanetary travel like the ships/zepplins in WoW, but that would make each planet feel very small, don't you think? Perhaps, you'd only start on one or two planets. Then expansion packs would bring in more. It's times like these that I'm glad I'm not a game designer. Have to make some sense and make fans happy, while balancing it out and making it "fun." After playing the beginning stage of Diablo 3...that's what I'm most looking forward too on PC though.
