It's a definitely gonna be a SICK car. Produces 402hp on regular grade gasoline. Engine even weighs 15lb less than an M3's. They finally slapped a 6speed in those cars too. At the end of the day it should still weigh 300lb less than the Camaro.

The V6 is getting a boost as well. 315 HP, 275 Tq from a new 3.7L.

The Ford 302 is a beast of engine. I have one in my 01 Merc Mountaineer nd it still runs with well over 150,000 miles with no issues other than a sticky throttle body (I blame the salt air near the coast) and that was taken care of with a quick splash of WD-40.

Still powerful too, 8 seconds is mighty quick for 2 1/2 ton SUV. The sound is intoxicating too.

God im still a Ford guy, why the hell do I drive a BMW?

How much do the 07' gt500's weigh? I've seen a few for low thirties and they have 100 more horsepower.

The GT500 weighs 3900+ lbs, partly becasue the supercharged 5.4 iron block engine weighs over 700 lbs (about the same as the old 428 and 429 big blocks of the '60s). The new DOHC 5.0 weighs a mere 430 lbs, which should keep the new GT in the 3600 lbs range.

For those reading this that are discounting the SLA rear end, it works VERY good for both road racing and drag racing. it skitters less on bumpy roads around here in baltimore than even my 7 series does. Ride is excellent and so is grip. Get over it and drive one.

The new 5.0/Coyote is based on existing Modular 4.6/5.4L architecture--not 302/351 Windsor/Cleveland-- with a revised block/bore spacing/heads/cams/intake, etc.

With a tune on 93 octane you can hit 440-450HP all else stock. For the $ it will be a fun ride for sure.

after selling the bmw to purchase a home, I definitely want to get back into a two door sports car. I will really consider the 2011 mustang...saw a 2010 in black and was mightly impressed.

Are you sure about that?

I saw a black 2010 GT at a drive thru and it was definitely lust-worthy.

Not to discredit the upcoming engine in the Mustang, but this thread made me think of one thing.....

I walked into my Ford dealer while I was getting my Mountaineer serviced. They had a 2010 GT500 chilling on the showroom floor.

That car is a sexy beast.
