Nikons in Space
The actual footage of the camera starts at about 2:15.
It's strange to see such a heavy lens get handled so lightly.

He says "800mm lens", and from watching the video, it is likely a 400mm f2.8 with a 2x teleconverter.

I've never handled a lens like that; how heavy are they (ballpark)?

At first I was like WTF?!?! And then I was like "ahhh I see what's going on..." I've always wanted to go into space and see what it's like there (or at the least experience weightlessness).

Now we can start a discussion about "mass" vs. "weight."

actually, the body is a D2XS, this must have been made before they upgraded to D3S's. Nikon recently had a press release about their equipment in use by NASA and what they've been using before the release of the D3s.
cool stuff. thanks for posting!

That's better than our tax dollars paying the UAW workers to hand out pamphlets at the auto show on what "we" can do to help them...
On a side note, I can't read the thread title without "pigs in space" popping into my head for some reason. Damn muppet show... lol
