Math is broken
So I was told this today at the gym.
Three guys walk into a hotel and tell the manager they need a room. Each person hands the manager $10. The manager says, "Sorry, the room is $25 / night." One of the men says, "that's fine, give us each back $1 and keep $2 as a tip." How much did each of the three men spend? How much was given to the manager for a tip? Do the math...anyone notice a problem? |

Total 30 dollars in the beginning.
Each person gets one back so the manager has 27 dollars there. Since they can't split the last 2 evenly amongst the three men the manager keeps the 2 dollars. The manager gets $2 and the men spent $27. Where did the last dollar go? is the problem |

There is no missing dollar.
Original price of the hotel is $25.00 It appears to be missing a dollar, but its not 3 men spent $10.00 = $30.00 - $27 = $3.00 refund to each, -$2.00 for tip = $25.00 Original Price of hotel. Don't calculate the tip before the original cost. I think. lol My head hurts

Yeah I really don't understand the problem here. Works out fine for me?
$10 x 3 men = $30 $30 total - 3 x $1 refund = $27 $27 includes the original price of the hotel room ($25) and the $2 tip that the manager will retain. $27/3 = $9 that each man spent So now backwards, just to make sure: 3 x $9 = $27 + $3 refund = the original $30 Looks fine to me? What's the problem?

For people that don't fully understand it yet still
3*9 = 27 - 25 og price = 2 dollar tip is already rolled into the total amount the three people paid .. The difference is the 3 dollar refund . No missing dollar! Lol... I just realized this after I couldn't sleep
