If you had to make an ugly sleeper.

Hey dudes,

I was talking to a few friends of mine, we want to start a new project in the near future. Get the ugliest, dirtiest, stupidest looking POS car we can. And get it to run consistent 12s, for laffs.

Basically we narrowed our search down to the following.

AMC Eagle (ugly POS, hurts to look at I could even say it's NSFW)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...agle_wagon.jpg

1989 Pontiac Bonneville (Can't get more sleeper than this heap)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/18/89LE.jpg

1989 ford taurus (what a POS)

http://ruddscars.com/1989_FORD_TAURU...op_800x600.jpg

1989 dodge caravan (This one has been overplayed as sleeper, too many people have done it)

http://www.cargurus.com/images/2009/...-pic-5076.jpeg

What I am NOT looking for are any of the "Up" versions of these cars, no GT's, SHO, SVT etc... models just straight up POS.

Why?

Because I want to try something new.

I already have 2 fast cars and I would like a 3rd one that stands out from the crowd.

I plan on turbocharging the car, tuning it myself, fabricating everything. I have plenty of experience working/tuning cars. I also don't want to spend more than 500 bucks on this jalopy (just the car without any mods). As long as it runs, yes it has to be that bad.

Let me know, if you were to do this, what car would YOU choose?

Nice, one of my friends already suggested the plymouth horizon. I should read up on it.

Geo Metro with a Suzuki Swift turbo engine?

Mitsu Colt?

I had an 86 eta that looked faded and beat to hell which I dropped an S52 into.... That was pretty nice. Got the car in perfect running condition for $500 (with the stock engine of course).

Check this out. The plymouth horizon came with a 5 speed in 1983!!

----
The series two Horizon launched in 1983 had a 5 speed gearbox, and badged series II 5 speed. The bumpers were painted black and the rear windscreen was smaller, because the parcel shelf was raised to increase the size of the boot. Some models had an electronic LED 'econometer' which lit up several lights around the edge of the speedometer dial, There was also an LED tachometer on top of the range models which was a row of green, yellow and red LEDs and was positioned atop the steering column.

------

hmmmm....

I'm telling you, the Horizon's your ride. You could probably buy 2 for 500 and used the spares.

The Prizm would be a good canidate.

Or the Geo Tracker; not too safe for the track though.

That AMC gremlin is a little to outlandish. It would stand out too much.

I like the Prizm too, i was also thinking of a 1993 ford escort. But I have seen too many of those hooked up too.

So far the horizon is getting all the votes.

The AMC Eagle is 4 wheel drive though, so that is a big plus.

The Eagle is cool, but if you want 12 seconds out of it, you are gonna kill the stock drivetrain. You'll end up with RWD anyway.

I'm almost certain you can have the merits of the swift with the ugliness of the Metro.... People have been swapping the swift drivetrain into that POS and making it into a ridiculous sleeper.

Oh that mitsu colt is plain jane. So does the swift motor + drivetrain swap in?
Im pretty sure it will need axles, tranny and motor mounts. Do they make a swap kit for this?

Looky.

It seriously looks sleeper.

That's where you would find all the info you'd need. The guys swapping in the 1.3L turbo motors get the Metro to haul some ass, considering it's no more than a giant pop can....

We had a 4wd 5spd colt vista when I was a kid.

I loved that car. Push-button 4wd on the gear lever. LOL

looked just like this one in the pic.

Or you could see if you could find an old Hi-Jet.

They did sell them here for a while.

Looks stable on a track.
