GT-R owner gets what he deserves!!!

Remember this video from waaaay back in the days? I realize this video is a repost, but read the report coming out of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:

" A brother and sister from Diamond Bar were arrested on suspicion of insurance fraud this month after investigators found a video on the Internet that appears to show their high-performance sports car crashing during a street race.

Investigators say Jay Chen, 21, and his sister, Tracy Chen, 29, initially gave conflicting reports on what caused $76,000 in damage to Jay's Nissan 2009 GT-R supercar.

That made investigators suspicious, and when they searched the Internet, they found a YouTube video that appears to show the car crashing during a race up Glendora Mountain Road, according to officials from the state Insurance Commissioner's Office.

Neither of the Chens were immediately reached for comment.

Investigators say Jay first reported to his insurance company that his sister crashed the car on the 10 Freeway on March 16, 2009. They say the sister corroborated the story.

They say Jay later withdrew the claim and said he would pay for the repairs himself.

They allege Jay made another claim about three months later, this time saying he crashed the supercar on the 60 Freeway in Riverside.

Investigators became suspicious when a body shop reported that it had the damaged car in its shop since March, said Jason Kimbrough, spokesman for the Insurance Commissioner.

An investigator from the insurance company, acting on a hunch, searched for videos of the crash on the Internet and discovered the clip, Kimbrough said.

"Sure enough, the video pops up and people start putting the pieces together," Kimbrough said.

Investigators say the damage to the car is consistent with what is shown on the YouTube video.

"The YouTube video was key to building the case," Kimbrough said.

San Bernardino County prosecutors charged Jay with six counts of felony insurance fraud. His sister is charged with one count, according to court records.

Warrants were issued for their arrests last month, and both were booked on the charges March 5.

Both face prison time and fines if convicted. "

What can I say, 21 yrs old and owning/driving a 500hp supercar. Parents in the US have more money than sense, and is it any wonder why so many of their kids are spoilt/ignorance brats.

for street racing... I'm amazed they did that on a public road...absolutely no idea how dangerous that was. From the video it was clear that GTR driver had no idea what the hell he was doing, being all squirmy and shit on the corners. The Evo was owning him, and this would have been amazing ON A TRACK! sigh

I'm one of the first to rag on Americans (mainly because I am one and see it all first hand)...but these comments about the cars and whatnot are just plain stupid.... You see this all over the world.

Well it is Diamond Bar, so it could be one of those many cases where the parents still live in Asia and just supplement the childs outlandish lifestyle with little to no knowledge of whats going on here.

Gotta say, if you don't live in The San Gabriel Valley then you may not understand. As a real estate investment broker, a few of my asian clients have ridiculous amounts of money coming from god knows where... I see young guys driving Exotic cars at least once a day.

That's horrible.

It was purely scary how the driver was loosing control of the GT-R when behind the Evo.

Not really, you have to also remember that unlike the EVO the GTR only shift power forward on demand, 100% is at the rear and this is still a 500hp monster that needs respect. If you go into a corner to heavy/quick then you can't rely of the electronics to pick up the piece.

All AWD does is give the driver a wider safety net to play with added traction on the exit of a corner, it can't allow for inexperienced or bad driving ............. no car can.

Money comes from the parents of FOBs that brought it over from China/Taiwan.

Unlike Americans, who move out(or try to) at 18 and start everything from scratch, for the chinese, money is passed down from parents to children, generation to generation, and the children build upon that money. So it's not really hard to imagine how they got those nice cars.

It's just different cultures. Many people have been judging immigrants with American standards, and putting down younger people who drive nice cars. This was actually confusing for me when I first surfed forums.
