Hi Guys, I have a friend who is selling me his 2006 Porsche Carrera S with 25k for $30,000. I think I am getting a great deal but I don't want to be stuck with crazt maintenance and warranty costs. What should I do???? He left to Italy so the car is just sitting there. What would you guys do?

Call me crazy but if you keep the Z4M then yes if not skip the porsche....it's a great deal but I'm not into P-cars beside the Turbo-GT2-GT3

Yeah... if you trust him and the car isn't salvage or anything that's a good $10-12k+ less than private party value.

WOW I don't know about the States, but a similar one in Canada goes for >$50k!!!!!

BUY IT, assuming it has a good history...you can even sell it and make money off it.

Do a PPI at either a Porsche dealer or a well-known specialist. It's one heck of a deal and IMHO, it's was cheaper than it should be. I had an '06 X51 Carrera S for a while and I really enjoyed owning it.

IF it has Bose, power seats, Porsche crests, sport exhaust etc then I would get a cashiers check.

If he is a friend I don't know that I would spend the 4-500 dollars on a PPI. Not saying it's not the smart thing to do but he may take it as an insult. ???

just think about 30k can buy you a new honda civic si(canadian price) now you compare it to a 06 C2S.....

Hi guys, the car does not have a salvage title and it is black on tan. 6speed manual. It has some options but i dont know the specifics, i am going to go test drive it this week. The car had been sitting for about 6 months, is that a big problem?

Check for oil leaks because some of these do have an RMS issue. If it smokes for a bit don't worry, they all do that. Tires and the battery is the only thing that might go wrong on these after six months. Stock Porsche battery is not the best and you chuck it away after two years anyway. Again, do a PPI before you go for it. It might uncover somethings that you should be aware of. If not, jump on it because that's a deal and a half.

Thats funny you mention that because they ordered a new battery for it because it was dead and thats why I haven't test driven it yet. Pardon my ignorance, but whats a PPI?

Do eeet! That's a heck of a deal. You could have tons of maintenance and still come out even.

That is really a good price. I own a 1991 964 C4 and it has been an incredibly reliable car. I just bought a 2003 996 TT this past weekend with only 20K miles on it. Porsche cars are very different and extremely addicting. Maintenance is only slightly higher than BMW, but reliability and build quality are far superior. Buy it!
