I wonder how that car is as a DD. There are a ton of sweet options available on the car.

from autoblog:

"Speaking of Audi, the 5.0 makes the 354-hp S5 look like an overpriced slowpoke. We've driven both cars in anger and the 2011 Mustang GT is not only faster, but is actually rear-wheel drive, not a FWD platform fitted with Quattro all-wheel drive. Want us to go even further? We'd prefer the Mustang GT to a BMW 650i. Sure, the BMW has dash leather and... iDrive. But (again), the GT makes more power (the 650i manages 360 hp), handles better and is quieter unless you're really belting the throttle. Also, Sync's a whole lot better than iDrive, even the much improved new iDrive. Not only that, but the GT's new 5.0-liter V8 engine is in another league than (previous) competitors like the Nissan 370Z and Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8. Getting the point? In 2011, the Mustang GT is the car to beat. Welcome back, 5.0."

Both the V6 and the 5.0 are incredible... Ford is really stepping it up.

Great, thanks for sharing OP. The return of the great ''five point Oo " . This car is very impressive. The power, fuel mileage, interior noise, and might I add, even the handling? Wow, Ford has done a great job and I hope they continue to do so

BTW OP, the 2nd link for the V6 article, it doesn't work. Did you do that on purpose?

This new Mustang GT is damn impressive (though I would bet that a 370Z would still eek out a win on a twisty road course)...

it puts about 100-120 hp more to the wheels then 135/335/535's do.

well ford finally fixed the engine part. now they just need to offer IRS as an option and it'll be a great car.
it even comes with brembo's now!

still rather have an 03-04 cobra though..

The cars are not comparable at all IMO, I would not even cross shop them.

It might dust YOUR 135i, but I think there are a few of us here that will be able to take care of them.

I would. They're both two door, RWD, performance cars that cost under $40k (until you start getting heavy on the options on the 135i).

I can think of very few other cars on the market that are more comparable to the 1 Series.

It's getting better mileage ratings than the 3.0L BMW we're driving.

Probably because with the 5.0 you are getting a stock DINAN+

Thank you for saying this because ive been saying it for two damned years. I heavily cross shopped a 2008 stang with my 135i. It looks like Ford has cured the 3 major faults that I had with it...interior quality, transmission (I didnt like the 5spd Tremac at all), and chassis rigidity.

Hell if this stang was out in 08 I might just be driving one instead of my 1er.
