Future (dream) car: MB or Audi...
I love both the CL550 (or 600-c63amg) and the Audi R8. Probably 2 of my favorite cars on the road in terms of styling. Thoughts?

R8 hands down.. I think the new CL looks like garbage.. It's so rounded and Acura looking.. I don't even think those two should even be compared.. The CL is for an old ass man that's just getting the car because its a Benz and the R8 is actually a sports car..

You can't go wrong w/ either one. Personally I'd choose the CL.
Saying that somebody buys it just because it's a Benz is pretty stupid though. |

Both are great but the CL I assume is the current design, don't get the one that benz will be re-designing, taht one looks like crap.

They are both awesome looking cars (well only the AMG version of the CL) but two completely different animals. I definitely wouldn't mind having a CL65 AMG and an R8 V10 in my stable.

Smart people have a stable of different cars for different uses. Instead you seem to be stuck with only one car and one mindset. And you've ironically stereotyped yourself into one category while assuming the rest of the world thinks and acts like you. The R8 has its purpose and so does the CL. Both are well built and great to drive but for totally different reasons. Styling will be subjective and the OP really has to go with what they prefer, not other people's opinions or any stereotypes. |

CL 65 AMG FTW
R8 = trash but they will no longer be the CL, it will be the S-Class Coupe

As a car to aspire to, I find the R8 far more appealing. More rare, more exotically built, and apparently as dynamically polished as a Porsche. With one of the best manual gearboxes out there, which I don't think you can get on the upper Merc CL's.
If I had to have rear seats, I'd take this over the CL: |

Seriously, this thread is retarded, and so are some of the replies.
These cars are completely different. How the hell do you cross a two-door, front-engined luxury car with a mid-engined exotic? They both serve different purposes. Admittedly, the CL is a nice car, albeit extremely generic in terms of styling. It's nothing more than a two door S-Class. The R8 is in an entirely different category. I don't even understand the point of this thread.

That old ass man probably has cars next to his CL that most on here will never have.
He bought a 335 for his 19 year old son though. Has anyone ever done an age median for ALL members of this place? I am guessing 22-24 or so, if that. No offense to the younger members who don't spew nonsense. Last edited by gonzo; 04-16-2010 at 09:37 AM.. |

Sure there are some cars I would take over both of these for that price range, including used ferraris, but thats not reasonable is it...
