HELP! Don't know what to do... New project car...
Hey guys,
Me and my dad are thinking about starting a project. We want to buy a classic car and restore it pretty much. I can't exactly figure out what would be the best car to work on. We want something that we can buy for under 10k but will be worth more than that once we're done. We'd prefer a convertible, but it isn't necessary. What we were thinking so far was: BMW 2002tii (shouldn't be too hard to find) 1950's porsche 356 speedster (if we can find one for that little) Mercedes 190SL (if we can find a decent one) anything else? What car would you pick? -Matt

i would pick bmw, it'll be easier to find parts for it.
http://www.2002ad.com/pages/carsforsale.cfm pretty sure you find wont find a authentic porsche 356 speedster under 10k, unless its a replica.

yea i was thinking e30 or e36... the e30 M3 i can't find for anything under 20-25k... so it'd have to be a e30 325i... I guess maybe the e36m3 would be nice to work on.. but wouldn't the parts be more expensive and there wouldn't really be much work to do?

depends on your skillset, stay with something galvanized unless you can do body welding and repair to deal with rust

Build a 2002 Turbo replica. Parts aren't too hard to find... and it'd be awesome if you had the full paintjob and everything.

How about a first gen 300ZX or even a 280Z? It's a fun little car to drive, good looking with a personality, and won't take an arm and a leg to restore.
